Just opened up my favorites and by chance clicked on HMaM to see what was going on with it.
I used to love visiting this place. It had, by far, the best community of any forum I had ever belonged to.
That said, I am in for anything, ready to help rebuild the community anyway I may be of assistance.

Yep, I'll for sure be around, this place used to be one of my favorite places in all of the internet! Maybe as we go along we'll pick up some of the old members back.
Any ideas how we can get some fresh blood here though? I'd be willing to help advertise/recruit . . . only I wouldn't know where to begin.

I certainly think HNT will return sooner or later. He last logged in early july 09 which shows he was checking. I'll email him if I can get his address from phantom. Conan hopefully will return as well, he logged in once the other day but didn't post...
As for recruiting, I think we first and foremost must make boards visible to guests as I was telling the others. Nobody will join if they can't see it's an active board, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't even show a single most recent post to guests. I pmed phantom asking him if he needs me as a global mod, because I could fix this. Then I think we could do some decent recruiting. Phantom hasn't been on In over a week so I'm waiting on his responses. So we'll see what happens, I'm sure it will work itself out over time. I'm already encouraged by the activity we've had in the first month back!
Also, a suggestion to members and staff. If everyone could find one of your real life friends (or significant others) to join and contribute regularly, then we could double our community and activity. I'll try this myself as well. Even if just a few of us can pull that off, two new regular posters can be a huge boost. Just some food for thought folks.
Holy sh!t, I can't believe I typed this whole damn post on my iPhone touchscreen keyboard, this thing isn't easy to use haha!

I also feel that HNT will return given time. I can understand the feeling of checking a board you once loved, but seeing no activity, but that's why we're here to change that! This will show the others that we are back for real!
As for recruiting, I definitely agree that visitors need to be able to view site, to me that is an obvious must. This comes from me being sure I would never join a forum if I couldn't at least view the kind of members that were there.
What about Toad, any word from him? I saw he posted not so long ago, but is he confirmed as knowing that we intend on bringing this back?

Toad, Matt and Conan all know that we are trying to get this place back again. As for HNT, yeah, I figure he will sign back in eventually (the fact that you came back by after so much time definitely gives me hope...lol).
I agree guests should be able to see the board and most of the discussions, I just don't want them to be able to post (except possibly in one board?? so it will be easier to clean up. is that possible?). Way too much spam that way (and too many folks just trying to cause trouble). But I agree that people that are seriously considering joining should have an idea about the members and get a feel for the place.
I have invited a few people, but no one has joined. I actually know very few genuine horror fans and even fewer that have the time and inclination to post regularly at a horror forum.
CT: you want me to send Phantom another message at Facebook? Ask him to stop by when he has time?

Phantom has been nice enough to give Jen and I admin powers, so come to us with any concerns or suggestions. I have already made the boards viewable to guests, so you should be able to see them without being logged in. As far as I can tell, guests posting is still blocked, which is good. We'll see how this works and go from there!

Great to see you back as well, Seventh. More and more familiar faces makes this an encouraging sign. As for the recruiting suggestions CT put forth, I'll try but someone might have to cover my end. Most of the people I know at work aren't horror fans at all (one of them considers me a hell-bound sinner for thinking highly of watching people suffer like that, which explains why he and I don't get along) but since I recently got my boss to try out some of the music I listen to, I'll try to get him into the movies and get him over here. That, though, will be a tall task considering it took him three years to get to try it. I know Matt and Toad have been by since the rebirth, they've posted a couple times but the time Conan was posting was about a year ago, I believe. I hardly remember him doing anything the last year when there was a few of us here doing only rudimentary posting. I e-mailed him a couple times letting him know that we're back but I haven't gotten a response for him at all.

(one of them considers me a hell-bound sinner for thinking highly of watching people suffer like that, which explains why he and I don't get along) LOL....yeah, I get some of that as well..... And I sent Conan a message at Myspace and he DID respond, so he knows we're tying to revive this place. I just don't think he has a lot of online time right now.

Well, nice to know you guys feel the same way I do. I thought I was the only one like that. He considers it morally wrong to think highly of films like that, and as such we don't see eye-to-eye at all.

I simply cannot stand when people get on about moral posturing, that drives me completely insane.
people that preach "morals" to others need a good boot in their self-righteous faces.
