In an effort to update the mods based on who is around regularly, I have made some changes. I think these changes will also reduce the appearance that the board has too many different mods. This has been complained about before and justifyably so. I have given a section of the board to 4 different regular members who were already mods. Here are the changes:
Main Office Moderator: HNT Horror Movies Moderator: GL "And More" Moderator: CT Off Topic Moderator: Jen
There are three exceptions: Phantom remains administration mod becUse he's head admin as has always been the case here at 2.0! He's the mod of mods people. Next, d3mon remains F13 mod because he knows a crapload about that series. And then, Conan remains Dark World Inc mod because it's his site obviously.
Any complaints, comments, or suggestions then feel free to reply!

Good call. Is it possible for you to leave some folks with their mod powers without it showing up all over the board?
I think streamlining appearances is a good move, but I also think that if a member like GP or Bonedaddy sees an issue they should have the power to correct it themselves if they want. Can we leave them with that power and still reduce the number of mods whose names appear to all users?

Thanks guys. I was wondering about that too HNT, but I can't figure out how to do it. Maybe only Phantom can do that. But BD is still a mod for Horror in General so he should have some mod powers and still be able to access the staff room. If GP want me to add him as a mod to one of boards so he can access the staff room he can let me know and I'll be happy to do so.

I don't think there is a way to give "invisible" mod powers. Can you set them up as a kind of general (or global) moderators instead of board specific? Of course, they will still show as staff members in the active user area.
Either way, I am fine with this. I don't think we need a whole lot of moderation anyway as it is, and I do think that visitors might be put off by the fact that there are more staff members visiting the board than regular members.

I don't think there's much of an issue with more moderators signing in than there is simply a need to make sure the visitors we get stay around. What happened to that one point a few weeks ago where four or five people joined and then a few days after, they disappeared? I think that's a far more important part than whether or not too many moderators are showing up.

Who joined and disappeared? I only noticed LF, Firestar, and razor joining these last few weeks and they all stuck around. Oh yeah, homebrew hasn't been back but I didn't think 5 joined and disappeared.

There isn't much you can do about that. I don't know about you guys, but I have joined dozens of forums and not stuck around. It is kind of just coincidence if you do decide to stay. For example, I also joined CLAD and I have not posted there in years. There is nothing at all bad about their forum, and there is nothing that they should change at all. It just didn't catch on for me. Not everyone is going to stay and make thousands of posts. That is just kinda par for the course

There isn't much you can do about that. I don't know about you guys, but I have joined dozens of forums and not stuck around. Yep, I have as well. No, there is nothing to do about that, you either click with a place or you don't. And you're right, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with a forum. I also know that a lot of people prefer to lurk, rather than post, just for opinions on certain films. There are a couple of forums I visit, but don't really post at anymore.

We have a pretty good crew of regulars and semi-regulars here, I think. Now that the place is runnign smoothly, there are a fair number of new posts every day. What more can you ask for? This is a kindof niche forum for people with a particular hobby, after all. There aren't that many people who love this stuff as much as we do. Talking about obscure Italian horror films with this crew is probably as intimidating to some people as discussing car repair and small engine repair at a mechanic's forum would be for me. This kinda thing just is what it is

Attention Mods: Id also like to encourage you guys to regularly start new threads in your sections. I'm not saying daily, but weekly would be nice to stimulate discussion. HNT this may not be realistic for the head office section but try to start threads in horror in general and everything else sections when you have time. Thanks guys!

Will do, but most of the ones I've started in the past (even when there was a lot of activity here) never amounted to much.

You got it, man. I would also suggest that if you see an older thread that no one has posted on for a long time that you want to revive (say for example you finally got around to watching something and want to give your thoughts now) that would also be a good thing to do.

Excelent choices all around.
I try to stop by as much as possible, but working nights, rasing two kids, ah, y'all know the drill..I'm happy to pitch in when I can and if you need to make the place more attractive to new folks, I'll relinquish the Moderator title if it will help.

Im satisfied with the way things are now so you'll stay a mod! And it's always good to have another voice helping us brainstorm in the staff room.
