Yeah, I'm one of them that's waiting out for that one.

I really enjoy this one, not great by any means, but its fun. I don't really have much use for the later ones, I still continue to watch them (despite myself) but I haven't REALLy enjoyed any of them that came after this one. I will give it a 3/5.

It's just hard to get into this one because of how good the other ones in the series are. This is the only one I'm not too thrilled about. It's decent, but not spectacular.

I gave this a 1. I didn't like this one at all. They go and hire KNB to do the fx and they all got edited down anyway. This is pretty much PG-13 stuff here. They should have just ended it here but then we wouldn't have part 6 and that would suck.

Couldn't agree more. If we didn't have this piece of crap, then we wouldn't get the masterful Part 6.

Although the sequal to part five SUCKS ASS, this one is very good. I love all the scenes with Michael Myres VS The Cops.

I actually don't really like this one too much, it has a few nice moments but overall, I was hurting with this one. Left me really disappointed after the spectacular films it's sandwiched between.

Yeah, although I really like it, I think part four's a bit better.

To me, Part 4's a lot better, but that's just me....and about 99% of the the general horror community.

2. A lot of bad ideas, but a very interesting ending.

Sadly this one abandons a lot of the good work done by part IV. 2

I've come to enjoy this one more in subsequent viewings, helped mainly by finally seeing it uncut (all previous versions were taped off TV, so it neutered a lot) and a spectacular AB DVD hasn't hurt either. It's one that's actually gone up since seeing it originally, which for me is rare.

Originally I liked this sequel better than Return because it was more like a typical slasher film. Less serious. Though more dramatic in a lot of ways, in that low-budget melodrama way that makes it in the end less entertaining than a film like Return which had far better production values.
But this film had this thing during the stalking scenes, where it just went on forever- you never quite knew when the victims were going to die because those scenes lasted upwards of 10 minutes a piece. And that was at the very least a step in the right direction from Return. But in the end, it wasn't enough fun.
Though the right DVD experience could change that. I'm thinking of picking up Anchor Bay's DVD because of the panel discussions that are there but not on the Halloween: 25 Years of Terror DVD. I kind of want that complete now. And Return fans will want the panel discussion with the actress who played Rachel which is on the 25 Years set.

It was one of the debilitating things as well, especially that barnyard sequence. That went on forever and ever, taking my tolerance of suspense to a place that was really hard to stay for. I do like the traditional slasher aspects, and it keeps the film afloat in my eyes, although the drawing out of the stalking simply lowers it.

I know what you mean.
I rewatched this movie about 2 years ago. Originally, I remember liking it a lot on first viewing. More so than Return. Then on that 2005 viewing, those two scenes I was talking about came up. Rachel taking a shower and the party teens in the barn. I quickly became tired of the Rachel scene. But I think the barn scene still stands up for me. I don't think it's magnificent or anything. But it's effective for what it was trying to do. More than, for instance, the scene at the end with the cops waiting for Michael to show up.
