I don't think you missed anything GL, my husband's interpretation was that Håkan was like Oskar at one time, and was drawn in that way. The movie pretty much stayed away from the issue, and focused on the relationship between Oskar and Eli. What's in the movie is subtle, if there at all. There was an episode of Diff'rent Strokes that was more blatant.

Seems strange to boycott this and rave about Serbian Film. This is my take as well. Very good point, GP. That was a film that really was somewhat offensive in its portrayal of pedophilia. Not a terrible movie, by any means, but the kind of exploitative garbage that really does include pedophilia just to push buttons

And on another note, how the hell did you get that little circular mark to appear over the "a" in the guy's name?

Oh, I didn't know that. I only use a computer for three things: opening Microsoft Word, accessing the internet and my music player. Everything else is either unused or of a total mystery to me, so thanks for that.
I just assumed you copied and pasted it from IMDb, which is what I would've done but then I'm not computer-savvy like you are. I think a caveman can figure out a computer before I will.

Hardly, the only reason I know is I used to write book reviews for another site and I have some reference pages bookmarked.

Well, it's still more than what I know what to do with a computer. Thanks for that.

This was a great film. Liked the story, characters, and the setting (living in Sweden looks bleak indeed). The ending was great too. Haven't seen the remake yet. 5/5On a sidenote, I think this is the first time I've seen Jen get mad in a thread like she did at Hider lol.

Avoid the remake. Everything subtle and understated about Let the Right One In is inflated and overstressed to the point where it loses all impact.

I've heard that the remake is decent but I have no real desire to see it. I don't understand the need to redo shit and have it set in America. Like it needs to be set here for us to relate. In fact it's boring when everything takes place in the same country...

On a sidenote, I think this is the first time I've seen Jen get mad in a thread like she did at Hider lol. Me? Mad? You must be mistaken..... I think I was more baffled than anything though. Glad you like it so much CT. And while I think the remake is pretty unnecessary (I think people just don't want to read subtitles ) I thought it was done well, and just different enough that I enjoyed it quite a bit. I actually think the filmmaker made some good decisions about what to include, and what not to include. It's not as fantastic a film as this one is though, in my opinion. But I actually own both on Blu-ray.

I thought this was a beautiful and touching film. I give it a five. I need to watch the remake soon, I'm sure I will like it.
