Big fan of this movie. First time I saw it I had just invested in my first ever Dolby Surround system so I took a heroic dose and watched this and Candyman. It scared the living piss out of me. I didn't watch it again for about ten years or so and when I did I was pleasantly surprised at how effective it was 'sans enhancements'.
I also prefer it to the first one and really don't mind the gemini killer/switching actor stuff as Brad Dourif is always a proper hoot.
I also agree with GL that part 2 doesn't deserve its reputation. It's just a different take and is, to my mind at least, vastly superior to the fourth installment (either version - both crap).

I personally try to ignore the attempts to make the Exorcist films into a series. As much as I can, I view this and the original as two worthwhile stand alone films, and try to ignore the second and fourth entirely. If you are going to watch the fourth, though, that Dominion version is far better than the theatrically released turd. The best thing about the second is the African footage, which admittedly has some good scenes.
