Yeah this dvd is really cheap now too, Wal-Mart has it for $7.50, and I am sure you can get it cheaper than that on amazon.

Yep, no doubt about it. I've seen it in some stores for about $6 as well, so I don't doubt this one will break the bank in any way, shape or form.

You deleted yours or what, Frank? And Toad, I already edited it down. Took a couple tries and over an hour of work, but I got it down. Yeah, by accident! BTW-My computer had a thermal event-just got it back up and running. Yikes!

Yeah, I always save mine first before I put it up somewhere, be it on IMDb or as a PM or e-mail to myself. Works all the time.
Hope you write some more soon, I always enjoyed reading them.

I thought House of 1,000 Corpses was a perfect 50/50 movie. The first half of the movie was very well-made, fun, and entertaining. However, when they get back in the car and go out in the rain and get attacked... the movie turns to complete crap.
Basically, it starts out doing one thing that works for it, then after it goes along half the way, it keeps doing it without turning up any of the meters. It doesn't get any smarter, more fun, or more intense. Instead, if anything, it turns down the meters. We get less of Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig's performance in the movie is a winner) and are forced to sit through more of Bill Moseley's awful performance. Really bad special effects, bad "shock" scenes.
After that scene in the rain, the only good things about the movie are the scenes where Baby goes to get supplies at the convenience store, the cops talk to Captain Spaulding, and the cops come to the house and there's a mini-shootout. I was very happy that they put a song on and we didn't have to hear anymore of Bill Moseley's terrible, raspy-hick underacting.

To me, it got caught up in the "it's Rob Zombie" hype and failed to warrant much of anything. Yeah, there's some good parts to it, but I found a lot more against it.

Well, if you know movies and movie styles, you know what he was trying to do with this movie. He was trying to make a carnival movie, much like Tobe Hooper's The Funhouse. But the effect of a carnival movie is often- it's fun at the beginning. Like a good ride. But, stay on it too long, it's like repetetive motion. Do the same thing over and over and over again, don't change gears... You're going to get sick or tired of it.
I really think it's an example of how it works pretty well during the first half. But that the director has to up the stakes. Something's got to happen. He should know he's never going to make something as disturbing as Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Hills Have Eyes, etc. Ever. Not since most of his movies have this stupid moron's humor to them. It comes off as a kind of rusty-schlock.
