What?!?!?! I actually dislike that movie so much that when I had a chance to own it for less than four dollars.... I didn't pick it up. And considering the crap I DO buy just because it happens to be cheap, and I may one day decide to revisit it, I guess that is saying something. But I do own TCM: The Beginning. Don't ask me to explain that one. That is pretty easy to explain acutally. TCM the Beginning was a pretty fun film that was miles ahead of the remake. I liked it too. The remake is a film that I offer no defense for owning. It is trash, but I was suckered in by hype much as #7 was for Zombie's cinematic abortion I actually do like the Beginning, for the most part. Wasn't crazy about the ending, but yeah, I liked it enough where I am sure I will be watching it again. The remake just bugged me, but I know many liked it. I guess I am biased, because I love the original film so much. And what killed me is that it actually had some potential to be pretty good really. But don't worry, I'm sure most of us have a few films we have no defense for owning. I own more than my share of them... As for Zombie's remake of Halloween, to get back on the subject, I was very disappointed. First of all, I was disappointed that he decided to remake this particular film at this point in his film career. But I did go see it, I was curious.....and he managed to do what so many directors of remakes do, which is completely ignore what made the original such a great film. The remake had no mystery, no subtlety whatsoever.....but hey, the mask looked good anyway...

The Halloween remake is one of my favorite remakes, some people hate it I do not see why, it is a solid entry in the series. Compare this to the resurection.

I liked it but I am careful what I say because I was so harsh on the remake of DOTD. Do want to send Conan into a tizzy LOL. Halloween 2007 was in no way comparable to the original, but it was good in its own riight.

If you do not compare it to the original, it becomes one of the best of the series. People like to diss it cause it is a remake. But would anyone on here actually like a Resurection 2, I think Zombie put new life in the series, and the sequels of the remake could go places.

Basically he took the same idea but with his spin on the life of Micheal. I agree with you it work very well, just dont say that at CLAD LOL.

Personally, I don't think it worked well at all.....but glad some people liked it. It just was NOT Halloween. It was NOT Micheal Myers. What was wonderful about the original was pretty much smashed to bits. I don't want to know why Michael is the way he is. Zombie basically turned him into a garden variety psycho, just with a bigger body count then most (not mention I felt the first hour or so was heavy handed and that it commited the ultimate sin when it comes to film...it was just boring). And no, I don't like that Zombie decided to do a remake so early in career, I want to see filmmakers with potential fight to do more original films, because that is the ONLY way we are going to see any more original films.
And I don't think many people would say they wanted to see another sequel either. I mean, seriously, I do enjoy several of the sequels, but I would have preferred they ended it with the first one. The ending was perfect, and creepy as hell. A sequel just wasn't needed, in my opinion. But most expect sequels to be inferior. Its not like with a remake where the brilliance of the original is often overshadowed by a flashy remake that seems to completely miss the point. All I am saying is.....I want to see a little more originality in film. Filmmakers and producers shouldn't be banking on the success of another so damn often. Its pure laziness. A remake every once in awhile, when done right...is fine. But at the rate we have been seeing? Its absurd. And I have a feeling a lot of good, talented writers are being left out in the cold along with their ideas because of it.

I also would like to bring up another point, why are they calling the new Friday The 13th a remake, it's gonna be nothing like the first, can they please just call it a sequel, or a prequel to a sequel. Sorry if we got off of Halloween.

Well done Seal, I agree with much of your original review. I hate this decades trend of remaking classic horror movies, many of them less than 25 years old! In fact I think I've boycotted them all with the exception of this one. Like you guys I saw zombies name attached, saw potential, and hoped for the best. Overall I enjoyed it. Like toad, I had low expectations going in and I'm sure that helped. As some of you may remember (GL I'm lookin at you) Halloween is my favorite horror series so I consider this zombies Halloween and not a remake. That's probably me attempting to compartmentalize and justify it to myself hehe. I wouldn't say this entry is my second or third fave in the series because I love several of the cheesy sequels but overall this very well may be the second best halloween movie after carpenters. I also agree with everyone that the complete removal of Michaela mystery took away the mojo of the original myers. Some of the new details added a cool gritty aspect but it got poorly overdone. Jen made a great point as well that I hadn't considered... The public would have probably been better served with a new zombie original, seems like a lot of time and talent expended.

Do you honestly think that this movie was BETTER than the original?! Hard to fathom how you could actually think that. Then again, are you still trying to convince us all about the merits os Slaughtered Dolls of Vomit or whatever it was? THat might explain a lot
