I'm fully pumped for this film. It's been a long 20 year wait for the live-action version! I hope it makes 'shit-loads' on opening weekend! They are writing drafts for the next 2 films already!

I actually am looking forward to this movie, its looks pretty good. Might even see it in the theater, since it will probably be one of two movies playing in town...LOL....(the poster was up at the theater). Though the name "Michael Bay" does put me off a little......

If he erased "The Island" from his résumé, it wouldn't look too bad.

If he erased "The Island" from his résumé, it wouldn't look too bad. Well, I personally can't forgive the man for producing and directing Pearl Harbor, or producing the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre...... never bothered with The Island. Though I like The Rock, and Armageddon is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine.

Bloody Fantastic! Of all the big 'summer' films i've seen this year, Transformers is easily my favorite. It's not without its faults, but it's just so darn enjoyable. Check your brain at the door and have fun. CGI is seemless. Some of the best i've seen on the big screen. The transformations are realistic and believable. The Autobots come across as genuine characters, one of my biggest fears that movie wouldn't be able to acheive. No worries there! The Decepticons, while totally bad-ass, just don't get enough screentime. I want more damnit!

Finally, finally saw this one yesterday, and despite enjoying it immensely, a couple things about it really ruined this one for me.
First of all, it must be mentioned since this is integral to the viewing experience, I used to watch the animated TV show back when I was a kid, but I don't remember much about it. I knew of some of the names and what they transformed into, but after that, nothing much about it after that. It was one of the first shows I grew out of, before I really had the chance to get into the merchandise and all that, so it's not one of the many things I remember fully, just that I did so I don't have the love for it that most of you have for this, and why I have no idea what the options for the poll mean and why I'm not voting in it.
That said, as an action film, this here rarely disappoints. Tons of full on and exciting battles in here, from the base attack to the confrontation in the desert oasis to the arrival of the reinforcements on Earth and finally the spectacle in the city streets at the end, which is just what I look for in films. Things were blowing up left and right or just being shot to pieces, and give me that for 90 minutes and I might call it the best film ever made so the ending really made me happy with it. It was the right kind of battle as well, which was just a full-on war as every side was looking to put away the other with their full arsenals deployed, which is highly credible given the intricate back-story laid out in the beginning. Also, what really helps this is that it does this without making the movie feel like it's over 2 hours, as I was never bored at all and the fantastic pace, dictated by all the action scenes, is a big plus for me.
Another little touch that I enjoyed was that the military/humanity is allowed to have some success against the robots, which is a unique touch. Rather than being simply wiped out with no amount of success or even winning a battle like inflicting minor pain on them before turning them angry is done, and the military is allowed to be successful if not completely and requiring the creature's help in order to fully stave them off is a nice touch.
I also have to say, it displayed the perfect touch of humor in here, which I didn't expect at all but surprisingly got a couple of good laughs from it. When they follow him to his house and meet the parents (who I thought were just hilarious, I loved them a lot) to Bumblebee's drive in the tunnel and the used car lot, it incorporated enough humor to off-set the spectacle from the action.
All that said, I can't really forgive the film for perhaps one of the gravest infractions of all: the utterly atrocious CGI used in here. I don't really blame them for that, as what they managed to use them for is highly visually-impressive and wonderful, it's just that the very nature of using it for those specific scenes is what automatically draws them down. A real catch-22, but I have to mark it down for that.
And finally, when am I going to be able to watch a modern-day action movie and not get motion-sickness during the action parts because the camera is just aggravatingly annoying, whipping and spinning and just cutting between fifty-thousand places in a ten-second sequence? We can sit still for several minutes without that stuff thrown all over the place in an attempt to disguise the fact that the sequence is CGI: we know it is because of what it's being used for, so let us see it already without trying to hide it. It's irritating, aggravating, and just becomes moreso when it's used only during the action scenes, the parts the audience is there to see.
All told, I enjoyed it except for some minor/major technical flaws. The action is going to override the flaws here: 8.5/10
