Phantom and CK have done a phenomenal job salvaging this site from our old digs. Our active membership, however, - and for various reasons - is now starting to look a bit emasculated. At the risk of being presumptuous, does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can build up the clientele here? ... only the best class of bloodsucking freaks of course!

Littering the links all over the imdb boards is always an option, but that can get tedious, and usually doesn't yield very much that quickly.
How did you find the old board Toad?

I was actually looking for a forum to participate in, found myself at The Video Graveyard (which was just that) but Phantom had made a post there listing his home site as HMaM and I followed the link, and liked the community here so joined.
Didn't know at the time he was the only other Aussie on the board and lives in the same town as me!
Pure chance really.
I think we need to go with personal introductions, but the problem there is I was looking for a web forum because I can't discuss the sort of stuff we talk about here with my more ''normal'' friends and colleagues... who tend to joke about whether I have any human movies in my collection.

Word of mouth is always a good tool. If we all look at our e-mail address book and e-mail everyone that we know that is into horror and the like about the board, then some of them might join up. I have got 4 members to sign up like that, but they don't stay long.

I came ove from a link that Jaysif posted at IMDB. I thnk tt most of all you've just got to be patient. New members coe periodically, but only a few stick around to post with regularity. I think that the nature of this type of forum is such that many are interested in taking a look at it, but only a select few seasoned fans will remain intereste enough to cotinue posting. This site has a whole new team of members since I first jined (CT, Toad ets.) and some of te members that I used to talk with most when I first jined (Jaysif, Tommy Jrvis, Saw my Bones) have not been here for so long that some of you guys have probably never met them. I think that is sort of the natre of the beast. Don't worry, though, I think that I peak for all of the members who aren't around as much as we used to be when I say that I still love it here and wish that I had a bit more time to devote to it

I am going to join some horror chat rooms on yahoo and stuff and spam the shit out of the board. lol well maybe not spam it, just tell people that they are a place online where you can feel to talk about any horror or nonhorror subject.

HNT's post made some valid observations. I think all message boards go through cycles of various levels of activity. When I first joined this board in Sept of '05, it had few members. It has evolved into a more elaborate BB, thanks in large part to Phanny and other dedicated members. We should probably get a spike of newbies 'round October, with Halloween on the horizon. Hopefully, some will stay and post. Perhaps other MIA members will sort out their RL difficulties and post more often. I know I can't be on as much as I'd like do to work and family obligations.

I think you guys are right about that, but I also think if we had a little more exposure for this place, new regular members might show up slightly more often. This board is great how it is, with about 10 dedicated members who show up once a week or more and I like how it's kind of a small close circle, but if we could up that amount to about 15 or so, this place would have more going for it. It's been over six months since I've joined, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only new regular poster to join and stick with it since then is Toad. I think we could improve that rate at least a little.

Yair we have a good critical mass of members - some of whom I'd go close to describing as friends... but I promise you this place is pretty hard to find. When we moved from the old board I forgot to bookmark the new address on my work computer (and must have scrubbed the old one) and it took about an hour of dedicated searching to find HMaM 2.0. Maybe we need to make ourselves a bit more visible, but I'm buggered if I know how you do that.

I guess one way is if y'all belong to any other horror/and/or other message boards and try to pump up some bidness for this site. I post a wee bit at Dread Central. Cool bunch of folks I used to post with at Fangoria.com few years back. Will try to drum up some interest over there.

Google it a lot. If you google this site and go to it through the provided link, it will move up on google's links and people searching similar topics will be directed to our site

Good thinking... though unless you put the 2.0 in, you won't see it... a casual surfer will end up at Bloody Disgusting or somehwre else
