I don't know if your into Technical Death Metal, but Fleshgod Apocalypse should be in your collection, man. I don't think I've ever heard as insane an album as they just released, imagine Beethoven-like Symphonic Classical music married to the technicality and brutality of Nile, but with more of each. Check it out, seriously, it's that good.

Love that Nile choice. One of my favorites, and I've been dying to get their new one. Sounds even better from what little I've heard of it.

Yeah, I didg Nile a lot. At the Gates of Sethu is a solid record, but my favorite of their recent albums (In Their Darkened Shrines is still my all time favorite) is Those Whom the Gods Detest. I think Kafir is the best Nile song I've ever heard.

Dont remember, but it was about 8 years ago, so that could be why. I download my stuff. And dont give me that jive about ripping off the artist, Ive spent more then my share of money on records, cassettes, cds, over the years. Ive done my part, three-fold

So since your employer has already been paying you for years, you'd be willing to work the next couple for free, right? I wish that we could just buy and download the product directly from the artist, whether it's music or video. Like how Louis C K does with his comedy specials. Sells it himself and gets most of the profit which allows him to charge a very reasonable fee. Itunes is super convenient for buying music and movies but as I understand it the artists get a way smaller cut than they even get from the record companies (which don't give them a very large cut either). As for downloading stuff without paying, I can't say I never do it but it is pretty shitty to the artists. I don't lose any sleep about the corporations not receiving their cut, but the artist not receiving their cut bothers me. I also think that the way some popular podcasts are monetizing their service is pretty cool. You get the podcast for free, but then they ask you to buy t-shirts or other merch from their store as well as support their affiliates. Apparently it's working and keeping a lot of these shows afloat.

CT is right, of course. Stealing from people is never cool, whether you are downloading musc or snatching purses. Louie CK is awesome, and it is really cool what he is doing, but its important to know that he couldn't always do that. He can pull that off becasue he is famous. He is famous becasue major corporations spent the money to hype and advertise him. Now he can release his stuff the way that he does, but if there was not sort of distribution network managed by corporations for this stuff, he'd never have made it out of the white noise of no talent acts to get discovered in the first place.
