I haven't been paying much attention to it. LAst time I went to the theater (to see AVatar to give you an idea of how long ago that was) they had a poster up for it, but I agree that I haven't been hearing much hype for this, or even updates from horror fan sources for that matter. I am a little surprised that it is gonna open in less than a month and there is next to no hype for it. Strange

Finally saw the first trailer yesterday and I'm still not entirely sold on this one yet. There's still a few things I'm not sure about here so I'll definitely take this one cautiously.

Here's what bothers me. 1. Produced by Michael bay, every remake he's done has sucked one way or another ( Friday the 13th was watchable but only becuase Jason was awesome but the rest of it sucked.)
2. Rumor has it that Freddy wasn't a child killer or molestor at all and was a high-school janitor who was wrongfully accused.
3. Another rumor is that the glove was actually a gardening tool.
4. It honestly looks boring.
5. How are they gonna explain how Freddy has his powers?

Well you can't really hold any of those rumors against it before they're confirmed.
And the reason F13 was probably the best of the bunch (haven't seen it myself), is because they didn't have to go to the trouble of turning the killer into jason since it already was Jason.

Friday the 13th (2009) was mediocre at best. It's kinda nostalgic in a sense that elements from all 4 of the films ( pre Zombie-Jason) were somewhat incorporated into it. But they practically ignore Mrs Voorhees ( she literally gets 30 seconds of screen time...wow) It's not my favorite of horror remakes but it's not the worst reamek either. to give you an idea as to where this falls in my list let me share what I thought was the best remake. Halloween (2007) It was the same story but it had new elements to it, Granted there were parts I did not like but I overall enjoyed it. My least favorite was TCM (2003) While I liked TCM The Beginning the remake did nothing for me. I think NOES will be in the middle as well but i'll wait and see.

There were some earlier remakes (before it became a fad) that I like quite well like House On Haunted Hill.

I've honestly never cared for these at all so many of those points don't affect me all that much. I see it being creepy and pretty suspenseful with a bunch of great kills to it, and as long as the story is plausible, giving in to tradition is about the same as pointing out acting ability to me. The trailers still haven't given anything regarding a plot (so like CT said, many of those points are pure speculation since we need one with a narrator over it rather than just scenes from the film) so I'm still a little skeptic since we know nothing, but they do give some bit of hope for an entertaining film, so long as you remove yourself from the series.

I dunno. I usually see horror films on the internet mainly becuase I don't have a liesence yet to see an R rated movie. ( i'm not revealing my age BTW) and also I don't wanna spend money on a shit fest so i'll probably catch it on the net.

If I happen to find a fiver on the ground I might catch a matinee, other than that . . . I probably won't be seeing this one.

I've given up going to theaters all-together, it's much cheaper to just catch them on TV. I've got cable, they're going to show up there sooner or later, and I've been blessed to understand the meaning of patience and practice it on numerous occasions (right now, in fact, since you all know about my computer problems) so it's not a big deal to miss a film in the theaters. I haven't even thought about it either.

Yep. I'm at least waiting until it comes out on DVD, and only if I hear it was decent.

Well, it's a horror film, so I'm going to check it out regardless of the enthusiasts opinion of it. I'm funny like that, forming my own opinion of a film regardless of what damage it does to my horror credibility.

I could really care less. It's a horror film, so I treat it as one. It has to wow me over with it's merits within, not extremely unimportant issues like that.
