In fact it seems like we almost tolerate more from musicians. For some reason nobody has acknowledged Chris brown and this is like the third time I've brought him up, but he's already doing mainstream news interviews and releasing new songs. I know you guys care about abuse against women, perhaps you haven't seen the pictures of her face looking like hamburger?
I agree 100 percent. It IS tolerated. Too many people either ignore it, or they make excuses. Its just expected. The fact that musicians are supposed to be edgy and unpredictable doesn't make a damn with me....if you act like an ass, you shouldn't be excused for it just because you have talent and are loved for that talent. A musician that beats his girlfriend or wife in the public eye is no different than the man down the street that does it behind closed doors, except that that musician knows that if enough people love his music they will "forget" and they will pretty much get away with it while doing it right in front of people's faces.
Its not a bad thing to acknowledge when ANYONE is acting like a jerk or a jackass. Of course people called Kanye out for acting like a bit of an ass. There have always been those that called musicians and actors out from the beginning for being jerks, right or wrong. This didn't come across as him being edgy, unpredictable and being rock and roll. This didn't come across as him living his life his way, and refusing to be a good boy. This came across as a man my age, taking the microphone away from a girl to scream in a childish way "look at me, oh please look at me". That has nothing to do with him not being safe or controversial.....again, its just.....sad. And it was all at the expense of a 18 or 19 year girl?? I mean, really, it was just a way to grab attention like a child would. And I do think it was contrived and a publicity stunt that went a little wrong for him (or right considering we are even talking about it here...lol). Moments like this always just seem a bit desperate to me. When I heard this I didn't go, "wow, I can't believe he did that, that's wild". It was more like what I have been saying....what a pathetic way to draw attention to yourself.
Maybe the outrageous thing to do would have been to NOT show up as expected and feed into the nonsense? Nah....he couldn't do that, then he wouldn't have gotten all this attention, like a five year old.
