Three Extremes
Definitely easier to follow than a lot of Asian horror I have seen. All three stories were creepy, the first I didn't care for all that much, the second struck me as funny as well as sadistic, but the third one stood out to me as the best, very disturbing, and a little more subtle then the other two.

Zombie Honeymoon. (review disc).
Plot, as such, revolves around two newlyweds who head off to a beach house for their honeymoon. On the first morning the husband gets attacked on the beach by a zombie that emerges from the surf. Said undead person chunders blood and bile into hubby's mouth. Hubby dies, then wakes up in hospital undead himself and with a hunger for human flesh. Wifie is not to impressed when she finds her beloved in the bath chewing on a passing jogger's internal organs, but sticks by him anyway.
It all goes very pear-shaped as the body count rises.
Yawn. Not funny. Not scary. Not black enough to be really engaging. Just silly. Forget it.

Don Carscarelli's
Incident on and off a Mountain Road.
A decent entry into Showtime's Masters of Horror series and surprisingly, less bloody that its predecessors. I read Joe R. Lansdale's short story and Carscarelli did a fine job translating it to film. A bit routine in execution, but it had nice use of flashbacks; a substantive back-story and a cold-blooded ending that worked well.
PLUS it had the great Angus Scrimm in a quirky, off-the wall role.

Did someone just say Angus Scrimm??? Great series. Jenifer was particularly good, as was Homecoming... and Imprint was just mind-blowing.

There is supposedly (eventually) the full series coming out in a set - which at least in R4 land should include Imprint given that it screened here on pay telly. That is one set I will pay reasonable bucks for, especially if it has some decent extras thrown in.

Yeah, they have been promising a collection of the full season of Masters of Horror for some time now. I hope that it comes out soon. I don't have Showtime, but the two that I've seen were terrific. I can't wait for the opportunity to get this

Don't buy it without Imprint. That - along with Homecoming - was the bee's knees in the series. Mrs T had to have a stiff rum after that one - we were still talking about it two days later.

Yeah, Homecoming was really cool. Very amusing. Imprint is the Takashe Miike episode that was never shown on television, right?

In the US, yes - but the UK and Australia had no drama with it, despite the very strong and confronting themes of abortion, incest and torture. Extraordinary film.

Cool. if they showed it in Australia and the UK, then I have to assume that it will be part of the DVD set. WHy the hell wasn't it shown here, though? It wouold have broadcast, like the others, on a premium cable channel. THey have no censorship restrictions, so the Showtime network must have balked at the content itself. THat is really lame.

Mrs T's theory is it is the abortion themes/sequence and sexual violence that killed it in the US. I reckon it must have pushed the envelope here too though... or perhaps just snuck through. Our religious right isn't (yet) as voiciferous as yours.

I'm sure that is why it wasn't shown. The thing is, though, the channel that should have shown it is not subject to any government regulation of content. The decision not to show it, then, was entorely a business decision by the network. I find that to be highly annoying, and am now glad on moral reasons that I dn' subscribe to Showtime, lol

You guys are dead on about Showtime not showing it because of the sexual content. I remember a Fango article about that, but can't be bothered to go about looking for it now, too early in the morning. They also edited Argento's Jenifer. Supposedly, when he walks in on her in the cabin at the end, she's ripping his schwang off and gnawing on it. That one was forcibly edited. Pet Shop Of Horrors
Decent 4 episode anime anthology type thing. All of the stories were pretty cool, but the first was much better than the rest.
