There's only a few power metal bands I really like GL. Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Demons and Wizards, Blind Guardian, Sonata Arctica(only their Winterheart's Guild album, I can't stand their other albums), Primal Fear, Dragonforce, Jag Panzer, and Angel Dust. Most power metal is just too damn prissy for me.

Well, I hate to be a priss, especially considering my avatar and banner here, but I love Power Metal just as much as Death Metal, and at times more so because of the speed. It's not as heavy or dark, but then we need a little balance every now and then. I actually prefer Silence as Sonata Arctica's favorite album, but Winterheart's is just as good. Love the opening track, Abandoned Pleased Brainwashed Exploited. Great song there.
However, in spite of all this, a true classic on right now:
Into the Coven Mercyful Fate Melissa
The roots of Metal! LdC, you might wanna check these guys out as well with Dragonforce. I'd get Don't Break the Oath first, but this one is just as important and may even be more influential.

Yea I have been meaning to get some Mercyful Fate stuff for awhile, but the store near me doesn't carry any. I'll have to wait till I move back to CA to order some or check if any stores near me have them.

I prefer King Diamond's solo stuff (I mean, come on: every one is a technical thrash CD built around a horror concept album) and with God-like playing and singing, it really sounds impressive. MF is the more critically accepted one, but I prefer King as a solo artist. Can't go wrong with either one.
Right now- Misanthrope Death Symbolic

Dr. Dre - The Chronic. Don't ask why. I guess I just felt like a little nostalgia

hahah...The Chronic. I remember listening to that when I was like 12 and thinking it was the greatest. Doesn't feel as solid now though.
Thought I would kick it old school and put on a mix of KRS-1, Boogie Down Productions, NWA, and Public Enemy. Right now it's KRS-1- MC's Act Like They Don't Know.

Damn, don't I feel weird now with my music playing-
Crimson King Demons and Wizards Touched by the Crimson King
One of the best songs ever in the genre, full of mighty powerful riffs and one of the coolest, catchiest choruses ever. Mid-speed Symphonic Power Metal at it's best.

This one, along with Terror Train and Down Where I Am are my favorite songs on the album. Have you ever listened to Blind Guardian? Awesome power/thrash.

Public Image Limited was Johnny Rotten's band after the pistols broke up. You should enjoy them

I love Terror Train too, as well as Spatial Architects and Beneath these Waves. It's pretty good stuff, I must admit, but tends to get too ballady on the second half. BG is another one I love, big fan of their Nightfall on Middle Earth album. I really like that one a lot, and their new one coming out this year sounds infinitely promising. Right now: Nightmare Rotting Christ Genesis
