I think it's better. You don't get the crap ones you won't watch anyway while only getting the ones you really want. If you don't wanna pay $15 for it, you didn't like it that much.

Well, your reviews here were all excellent. The only problem is that the show, for the most part, isn't. Season one was much better and even it had some really lousy episodes. I personally doubt this will be back for a third season as it really wasn't a big winner for Showtime. kind of a shame really when you look at the talent involved.
That said, the entire way that they'v handled this series, starting with releasing them individually as if they wre full length films rather than hour long episodes of a television show and not putting Miike's episode on television (even though it was one of the best of the year). Frankly, although I would have a little bit of interest in this show Showtime has completely botched the presentation and screwed the fans. Look at the way that HBO handles its shows and releases high class DVD sets. They know how to treat their fan base. When Showtime figures this out, maybe it will actually produce a good series and not just a couple decent episodes of a medioce series

Too true, too true. This was such a really lackluster season that I don't really feel the need to have them in my collection (plus, it takes money away from that just-discovered Eurohorror film that should be there to begin with) and the outrage that they haven't put even Season 1 in a comprehensive box set is infuriating (except for Swedish fans) and it's not like all the information present in the documentaries give new information in every single one. Most of them could be trimmed or edited together to allow for more space together. Just a really botched effort all around.

I have yet to see even one episode, I don't have Showtime. So I have quite a few of them on the Netflix list, but it is a long list. That's why I haven't been in this thread. There's a few I am looking forward to, Dario Argento's contributions and Takashi Miike's particularly.

Argento was the only one I thought scored on both seasons, so he did the best ones.

Argento was the only one I thought scored on both seasons, so he did the best ones. That's funny, on another board I mentioned those were the two I am looking forward to, and two members, the only two members that are horror fans from what I can tell, said they were disappointed in both. I thought that was odd. You're an Argento fan like I am though, so I am sure I will at least like them.

Well, neither one is really a giallo in the traditional sense, like what he's famous for, so those expecting an hour-long Deep Red, Tenebre, or even a Suspiria might find these two a little lacking, but they're still fun.

Just caught the Pelts episode last night. I think on another thread GL you said that was possibly the pick of the series? So far I can only concur.

The only one I liked even close to that one was The Washingtonians, which is only due to my intense love of history, plus it had some really great gore thrown in. That would be my next choice if you can find it, but the others that are watchable:
The Damned Thing Right to Die Pro-Life The V Word
Those five would be the best choice, as the rest of the season really sucked. See those five first before moving on to the others.

Cool. It's playing here on Showtime at the moment, so I'll keep a weather eye out for those. Thanks.

No problem. Just glad others are seeing them, it was lonely those months of being the only one seeing them.

The story is why it's so good. I've heard those rumors myself, and all the evidence for it, and it was just like watching one of those shows only with some great creepy images thrown in. It's highly recommended.

I've only seen 2 of the 13 "Episodes" from the 2nd Season.
Family and The Screwfly Solution. I don't know which was the bigger disappointment. I chose to see both because Dante and Landis are two of my favorite directors from this series, and because they were the two best reviewed and rated "Episodes" from the season. I'm not the biggest fan of either's Season 1's "Episodes," but I have to admit both were superior to their Season 2 contributions.
Still, I'm a trooper... If the opportunity ever presents itself to see The Washingtonians or Right to Die, I will. And now, thanks to your review, GL, I will definitely make sure to see The V Word. It was written by Mick Garris and I'm not too fond of the stuff he writes - because Chocolate turned out so bad (in terms of the writing). But... well... he's not directing this time. With Ernest in the driver's seat... the "Episode" might turn out to be much better than Chocolate or Haekel's Tale were.
I remember Demon Knight being really scary, and Bones is one of the best horror movies to come out in this horrible decade so far. I mean, there are so many horror movies on the market for the Teenage / 20-something's audiences and they all have the same, annoying characters that the directors don't even seem to think are very smart. Ernest's characters in Bones... I actually cared whether they lived or died.
