I always thought Lazario was a 'she'... the sphere would have been perfect - a prong for each porthole!

That's assuming, though, that Lazario is good enough for a silver sphere. I always thought that he deserved the quadrupel-shotgun myself.

What anger? I don't think we're displaying anger to any degree.

I have my DVD collection organized by genre and then by year within each genre (except for sequels which go with the originals).
Anyways I just had to rearrange my horror section a bit as I had no idea Phantasm was from 1979. I thought it was from the 80s. Good movie, even better now that I know it was one of the earlier entries of the era.

Mine's not really big enough for me to go that route. I go alphabetically instead.

I have the Region 2 DVD SE that comes in a plastic sphere shaped container. I have to revisit this classic one night. Perhaps a marathon of all 4!!!!

I don't think it fair to say that this doesn't hold up to other slashers or to even be compared to them, or that the movie is boring in some places, you have to remember this was made in the 70s and back then horror movies tended to be paced slower.
Phantasm was without a doubt one of the most original horror films ever made, it was a world wide phenomenon, before the success of movies like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on the Elm street.
How the hell could anyone like part 2, its the worse installment, for no other reason then that it didn't have one of the original actors in it, therefore it lacked chemistry.
In terns of horror movies Phantasm is a masterpiece.

I'll agree on the comparison angles you mentioned, but that boring thing is where I disagree. No matter what time-period or the style that was prevalent during then, a film should never be making you think of other things rather than concentrating on the film at hand. That's a fail when you're pre-occupied with outside forces rather than a movie, so if it falls victim to that, it should be counted.
And there's been plenty of films of that time which never had that problem of keeping attention focused during it's entire length, so it's a valid criticism.
