I had to give it a 1. Sorry. I tire quickly of Romero's constant military themes in his horror movies. This one not only showed that he uses it as a crutch when he doesn't need it, but that he was under the impression that he never portrayed it extremely enough. Thinking none of us understand the concept of subtlety- he played it WAY TOO OVER THE TOP. And now... people actually like those asshole-soldier villains. That disturbs me, deeply. I don't think it's a complete and total failure, though. The ending is more satisfying for me personally than Dawn of the Dead, the opening scenes on the streets were awesome, and the gore effects were good. But, since I have just recently announced my Percentage Counter... For me, these only count for maybe 9% at most (out of 100%). But, I'll never call this a disappointment - because I never liked his other "Dead" movies that much.

It doesn't look like your opinion is very valid anymore. HA!

Having just watched Diary of the Dead (and being hugely disappointed) my regard for Day of the Dead has increased even more. What I wouldn't do for a return to the days of ensemble casts of largely unknown but realistic looking and feeling people instead of the long parade of plastic twenty-something cardboard cut-outs that populate most horror films these days. Day of the Dead had it all. Great gore. Great dialogue. Great and memorable characters. It's pure fucking genius from start to finish.

I know that I have already rated this, but having just seen LAzario's nonsense, I must reiterate that this one gets a five for being the third in what I think is the best horror trilogy ever made

I think I gave this a 4, but it's really close to being a 5. I do see where that over-the-top yelling does get old, and it's not something that I personally think is quality entertainment, but frankly, a great story, tons of suspense and top-notch gore effects save this one remarkably. Highly worthwhile, I must admit, if you can ignore the yelling on display.

I love the yelling. The Pilato Liberty scenes are amongst my favourite of ALL time. Can't get enough of it. Add the tremendous gore goodness into that mix you have a sure fire winner. A stronger female lead and better music and this would have been my favourite of the three. As it is it's still sheer class.

For me, I would've been fine with less of them. They do work at first, showing that the military are the gung-ho types who shoot first, ask questions later and even then, will find a reason to ignore intellectual reason, as is what they're trained for while the scientists try to find a way of making their points across. It's fine the first couple of times, but for me, when they devolve into shouting matches later on, it just gets too much for me. I do agree on the class charge, though.

My only minor complaint is the out of place and embarassingly bad Jamaican accent. Other than that, this one is all class all the way. I only wish that ROmero had the budget to shoot his original script. THat would've been absolutely incredible.

Toad caught the screner recently and honestly - except for a character named Thodes and another named Bud He's a private who gets infected but doesn't eat the rest of his crew becaue he's a vegetarian there are virtually no similarities.

I've read what that original script was going to be, and it really would've been the best conclusion to this series. An absolutely incredible film that would've been one of the best horror films of all time.

I heard Nicatero talk about the original script and it sounded like it would have been the zombie version of War and Peace. I would have loved to see that version.

I am totally beside myself from reading these reviews, to me this film is pure perfection, I don't think the effects have ever been topped by any other zombie movie, and I don't understand how you can say that it hopelessness is damaging to the film....thats the whole point.
