Well with the exception of Sith I really dont want to waste my time making thread for the "Prequels" to the holy trilogy. But what are some of your thoughts on I, II, III? The first 2 I'm not even going to bother, but as far as Sith is concerd I would refer it as a cartoonie version of Empire. I liked it a lot but all the CGI goes against the original three.

After i walked out of the cinema after watching Phantom Menace i was shell shocked. I was trying to persuade myself that it was an okay movie. I went back a week later and watched it again incase i walked in to the wrong film viewing! I hadnt obviously and i was gutted after years of excitment and antipaction to end up having to watch a cgi crapfest of dodgy talking droids and a sent from hell annoying creature named Jar Jar binks!.
After praying that Attack of the clones must be better i was back on track with my excitement and anticipation once again after just dismissing Phantom Menace all together. Clones i enjoyed a lot more due to seeing a Young Boba and Jango and the great Christopher Lee as Dooku!, plus i was really looking forward to watching the Jedi fight at Geonosis. I came out feeling that it was getting back on track, but it still didnt have the "feel" of the Original trilogy, it was too clean looking and the characters didnt seem to gel properly unlike the originals. I understand that Georgie boy was trying to give everything a fresh look as everything was new and everything was cool with the galaxy up to this point of pre clone war battle, but to me it felt wrong and that something was missing. I was also expecting to see proper storm troopers in this one as well and i was let down.
Like i said enjoyable with Some great scenes but it felt like along with Phantom Menace it was a second Rate Star Wars film in essence.
I was really looking forward to Sith as this had to be the one Georgie had been saving all the good stuff for but again it had the same look and feel of the last 2! Again some amazing scenes and characters, Grievious was great and the clones were almost back on track looking like the troopers i know and love, 3PO got his plating and everything was looking great. The Turning and twisting Of Palpatines plan was superb in some ways but i felt the Padme loosing the baby dreams, and how Palpy used Anakin to slay the Jedi for help in saving her angle could of been better but i enjoyed it non the less. The executions of the Jedi i couldnt of asked for much more really i loved those scenes they almost had me in tears! I was particualry pissed at the way Kit fisto got wasted by Palpatine he just got took out like a rookie Jedi! ( personall issue i have as Kit is my fave Jedi lol) He would of lasted long enuff to get in a few strikes at least! Anakin vs Obi one was sweet i loved that and the whole Im on higher ground thing.. Loved that! and how Anakin got what was coming to him naughty Ani! lol So by this point i was like yeah ok it took a while but its gonna fill smoothly in to a New Hope but ohh no.. Padme plops out the babies within mins and instantly names the babies and kicks the bucket! what the hell! lol
The only main real Star wars feel i got from this flick was when Obi One arrived with Luke on Tattoine, i had a tear in my eye at that point and the scenes on the Star Destroyer with Vader and Palpy and from what im guessing was a young Tarkin on the bridge of the ship before the end credits.
Outta em all Sith was by far the best of the three. I can moan all day about plotlines and stuff within all 3 of the movies, but i can still find good points and scenes with all of them including Menace! Mainly Due to Qui Gon Gin and Darth Maul! great characters and a great fight scene! also menace did have the pod race which reminded me of the speeder scenes in Jedi but that was it lol.
All watchable in parts if ya skip to certain scenes but there not a scratch on the awesomeness of the Holy Trilogy.

Sith is marginally better than the other two. None of them are comparable to the originals. They never should have been made. George Lucas should have let somebody else direct them. Look what a great job Kirshner did with Empire, which is the best film in the series by some margin

The first two were so execrable I haven't even bothered with Sith. Star Wars got me into film at the tender age of 12, and I've never looked back.
And like you BC I went to see Phantom Menace twice because I thought I must have been mistaken the first time about how bastard awful it was.
All I can say is my 9 year old's verdict is that the original is the best. Go generation next!

Sith is easily the best of the new 3. I'd recommend at least a rental.

I was a SW fan since age 10. When Phantom Menace was released, I too, was looking forward to a great prequel trilogy.
That never happened. The first is a mess. I was going to revisit it just to see if I was too harsh. Dunno if I'll do so. I re-watched Attack of The Clones recently. While it was lacking in several areas, it was ok. At first viewing I thought it sucked Bantha turds, but, it was watchable. Lucas cannot write sustained, decent dialog and some how gets such wooden performances form his actors.
Sith I have not seen since its theatrical release. I'm gonna re-watch it again soon. It was a decent entry, but no more.
If Lucas ever decides to make another film or series of films based on the Star Wars universe, I hope he realizes his limitations and farms out the screenwriting duties, at least!

I just bought my young bloke the box set of the originals for Christmas... and while searching through that section of the DVD store I realised what a piss-poor diet of new sci-fi we've had in recent years.

I agree-there has been a spectacular dearth of good sci-fi films in recent memory.
