Day of the Dead 2008 is an entertaining yarn that covers no new ground but concentrates on the most exciting aspect of Zombageddon, the outbreak. It’s eighty-something minutes of exploding headshots, wall crawling hyper-zombies and badly rendered CGI fires and although it can’t even begin to hold a candle to its progenitor it features Mena Suvari in combat pants and does exactly what it says on the tin.
Rate it from 1 (worst) to 5 (best).

I did catch it, and I did find it to be entertaining all the way through, or at least once it got going past all the family BS that littered the front-end. Once it got to the hospital, though, the film quickly grew on me with countless zombie encounters, great gore gags, tons of action, a sprinkle of suspense here and there and a few other surprises thrown in for good measure (the handling of the infected soldier and the role he plays towards the end in particular was fantastic) so this had plenty of good parts to it.
I'll give it a 4, though, because the film utilizes the fast-zombies method, which I find utterly pointless and completely ruins any film by virtue of inclusion and the shaking action-cam which renders most of the action scenes impossible to make out. Great, but if it fixed two small problems in it's production which wouldn't have cost anything to make, this would easily earn a 5 from me.
