I've absolutely no idea whether we have had a House thread before but having just watched the first two back to back I thought perhaps it was time. I saw House when it was first released and was a huge fan of House 3 (saw it at the cinema and had a great time) but I was a House 2 virgin. Why the hell this film isn't a christmas tv favourite I have no idea. It's so drenched in eighties cheese and goodness and has more in common with Weird Science or the Bill and Ted movies than its horror brethren amd is totally awesome on every level. That said I am popping pills for a fever and still recovering from an enormous day on the lash on saturday. Perhaps being in an altered state is a prerequisite to have such fun with House 2 but shit, I'm there already! House 3 on next and, if I can stay awake I'm going all the way with House 4 (although I have heard its pretty hard work). + =

I think that the original House was a classic film that was lots of fun and still had some legitimate horror elements. It certainly wasn't scary, andI can't begin to imagine what got the film an R rating, but I seem to remember the zombie ending being pretty darn creepy.
As for House 2, I saw it on cable as a kid, and I will file it with Troll as one of the less defensible films of the 80's. I don't remember, but it might even have had Sonny Bono in it. God help us all

House 3 was only released as such outside of the U.S,and was never really conceived as part of the House franchise. Our Aussie VHS screamed 'you'd rather be on Elm St'.It's my favourite of the 4 plain and simply cause it eschews the laughs in favour of a serious vibe.plus it has Lance Henriksen

Right, Matt. For us, House 3 is known as The Horror Show, an earlier viewing of mine I have yet to see repeated so I can review it, but I was really entertained by it through my knowledge of Lance Henriksen and Brion James appearing in many of favorite action films at the time and then seeing them in a horror film was a real blast.

House 3 was great. Brion James really hammed it up as Jenky.
House 4 on the other hand I gave up on half way through. Rotten end to the sequence.

I thought it was alright. Nothing terribly important but cheesy enough for me. It does straddle the line between good cheese and bad cheese, but it was still good enough for me.
