What do you think about them? The ipads e-reader functions look pretty cool. I bought my mom a Kindle for Christmas and it's pretty nifty. I don't know much about the Sony or Barnes & Noble ones...

I just can't seem to warm up to the idea of one. Most readers I have talked to that have a kindle love theirs, and highly recommend them. But I don't know, I just love the feel of books so much that I'm afraid it will actually take away some of the enjoyment I get from reading. How does your mom like it? Did it take much getting used to for her?

I don't have one, but I certainly see the advantage once there ar more books available on it. It would be particularly valuable for students, I'd think. Instead of having to carry around multiple enormous textbooks, all you need is to get all of your class materials on your kindle and carry it with you. That alone is awesome. For people who just like to read books casually, however, I'm not so sure I see the clear benefit

There are a few actually, its far easier for travel. From what I understand its easier for people that might have pain in their hands or wrists to hold, and its takes up a lot less room. Even casual readers tend to own a few books, or want to take a couple on vacation.
But I read two to five books a week, I know logically that it would be awesome to have a lot of the books I own on my computer or Kindle, rather than piled up in the living room, and I know it would be easier to just grab my kindle instead of picking out four or five books to take on a trip.

My 60 year old mom likes the Kindle a lot. I think it did take some getting used to, but hey she's 60, anything electronic takes some time with here hehe. It's good for her because it's light and easy to read but also easy on the eyes (not backlit).
They are expensive though, so waiting might be advantageous. But I would certainly enourage people to consider buying an ipad for their next computer (whenever ur current one getd he boot) because it functions as an e-reader and so much more.

Well Ron bought me a kindle for Christmas and I have to admit, I LOVE it. I thought it would be hard to get used to, but it's not at all.
