What does everyone think about including a new sub-board in the General Horror section where we get to discuss the more classic horror films in the genre? By this, I mean the films from Night of the Living Dead back to the very start of the genre, all the Universal and Hammer films and their ilk that were made.

I have no major objection to the idea, but I don't know if we need it, either. As far as I'm concerned, those films should be discussed by title just like every other horror film. Personally, I think that if you made threads for the classic Universal and Hammer films (many of which were made after NOTLD, btw) you would probably get a pretty in depth and comprehensive response. I love discussing those films, and would probably respond to them faster than I do to many of the threads about more modern films

Good point, HNT, but the fact is that it's not just for those films. This would be for all of the other films that were made around that time, all the films of the 30s and 40s as well as the Universal and Hammer efforts. There's a lot more out there than just those two studios and producing a place for them outside of the main board is what a lot of the other forums have in place, I figured it could work here. After all, we have one for Asian fare, which is separated from our main discussions. And I tend to find a lot more Hammer efforts before 1968 than after it. Frankly, the best stuff is after, but there's a lot more before.

Good point. You won me over and I agree. I think we should do it. Lets talk to CT once he has a chance to be around here more, and I'm sure he'll make us one.

You have a good point about it yourself, in that it is possible to put them in there with the others, but as I said, putting them in a separate board like we've done before could also work.

I think this is a great idea actually. And I have the capability to create the board, but I have never played around with it before. I would rather wait for CT's input.

Good to hear as I just got interested in watching old horror, right now I'm downloading only those films that have sequels
Frankenstein Bride of Frankenstein Son of Frankenstein
The Mummy's Hand The Mummy's Tomb The Mummy's Ghost The Mummy's Curse
The Wolfman Frankenstein meets The Wolfman House of Frankenstein House of Dracula
Creature from the Black Lagoon Revenge of the Creature The Creature walks among us

I've seen all of those, there's some good stuff in there. I'm a huge fan of those mummy films as well as the Frankenstein sequels, but I really don't think there's a bad film in there.

Yeah, Bride of Frankenstein in particular is near the top of my list of the greatest horror films ever made. Wolfman is a great one too, obviously. Several of the Mummy films you listed are sweet (though I personally am not big on The Mummy's Ghost).
Creature from the Black Lagoon has some groundbreaking underwater photography. The Creature Walks Among Us is also kind of cool and fun. Revenge of the Creature is the weak link there in my opinion, but it does have the distinct dishonor of being pretty much directly ripped off by Jaws 3 right down to being set at Sea World with attrocious 3-D effects

I've just never been big on the Creature series, as beyond the underwater photography nothing in there really stands up for me.

Son of Frankenstein is far superior to Bride of Frankenstein, there are a few ridicules things in bride and one very annoying character, parts of it felt more like a Marx Brothers skit then a horror film. The scene with the little king trying to get to the little female creature was kind of lame. Luckily the scenes with the monster save the film.....so sad.

Wow, that's a new one. Never heard anyone say that, and I'm a huge supporter of Son. It's underrated, I'll give it that, but I won't put it over Bride any day of the week.
