"During an interview with Bloody-Disgusting at this year's San Diego Comic Con, 'Spiderman 3' director Sam Raimi tells us that he's really busy with Spidey now... but when he's finished he still plans on remaking 'The Evil Dead' with Ghost House Pictures. He tells us he wants to find the perfect director and the perfect script writers to make a film that will "really spook the audience." When we clarified if in fact the remake will happen, he exclaimed "yes, one day."~ Bloody Disgusting

If he was smart he would have Bruce direct it.

Taken from Bruce Campbell Online.com "The remake 'concept' has been getting a lot of feedback lately, and not all of it good. Folks can relax in knowing that we would never knowingly screw up the series. A remake will get made fairly soon, but there is no start date, no director and no script. Other than that, we're ready to jump into production!" -BC

Agreed... and this one doesn't look like it's just going to be a grab-for-cash knock-off. At least Raimi is backing it.
And on remakes, The Hills Have Eyes was great, and Toad also holds great hopes for Coscarelli's re-imaging of Phantasm. Yay!

I think that where Raimi is backing this one that its going to be a really good movie. I can't wait to see the Phantasm remake aswell.

Come on, not all remakes are bad. That's true, but I still wish that they would just leave some films alone. My main complaint about remakes is that there are just so many of them. And so many that are made by people that don't seem to have even seen a horror film in their lives, much less the original movie their great "new" idea is based upon....lol... But CK, I love the idea of Bruce directing. If it has to be done, I hope that it is done right. But I think there is only a very, very slim chance of that happening.

Remakes, especially horror film remakes are cash-cows. You have the fan base already etablished, plus horror is the perfect film for the coveted demographic-that teen auidence who will spend that disposable cash to go to the movies multiple times.

Of course, so you get directors and writers that just seem clueless, but they know they will make money, so what if the quaility suffers? And like most horror fans, I watch just about anything horror (except for the remake of The Fog, I have to draw the line somewhere), so like I have said before, I am part of the problem, not part of the solution....lol.....it just seems like such a waste. But hey, that is the way it goes, I guess.

I really don't see any artistic reason for a remake, but it isn't hard to see the commercial potential here. Being that this was Campbell's first film, I would be willing to bet that the deal that he signed for the distribution of this film doesn't really get him all that much money. Now that he is so successful, he probably just wants to cash in on that success and make some profit from remaking this film. In that sense, this one s the most cynical of cash grabs. That said, even though I don't see any legitimate artistic value in remaking a film that was perfect as it was, his one does have the potential to not be completely attrocious
