I really hope that the "NO ASH" thing is just a online rumor, cause that would suck and kill any chance of them making money off true horror fans. If they made this remake and not have Ash in it no one would go see it.

I'm with you bro. Surely no film-maker could be that abjectly bastard brain dead.

Well, since Bruce Campbell IS Ash, and will FOREVER be Ash in my eyes, I would just as soon them completely leave the character out, if Bruce isn't taking on the role. But I don't want this movie made anyway, so I am extremely biased when it comes to this.

This is a remake that I feel better about than most. If Sam Raimi and Bruce CAmpbell are gonna be involved in making it it might be good. In any case, this was a first film for both of them, and I'm sure that the distribution deal that they signed denied them most of the profits from this hugely succesful film. I don't blame them for wanting to remake the film so that they can see some of the profits from it.
I can't say that I'm excited to see this, but I do recognize some of the reasons why Raimi and Campbell would want to do it. As for complaining that Ash isn't in it,, I really don' understand why that's a bad thing. We complain if a remake is too much like an original, but we complain just as much if they change elemonts of the original that we enjoy. I agree that it'd be nice if they didn't make remakes so much, but if they are going to I'd rather that they substantially change the story (even if it means taking out the lements that I liked best about the original) than just remake the original shot ofr shot with different actors. That just sucks

Is this remake still going on? Last time I heard anything about the Evil Dead remake, it was that they were not going to do it after all.

I think Jay & Silent Bob went to Hollywood to sabotage it.

That just sucks I don't blame them for wanting to remake the film, especially considering the influx of horror remakes the last few years but I don't have to like it...LOL. The only way I would feel good about it at all, personally, is if Raimi decided to direct. To remake HIS film HIS way completely, instead of giving others enough power to screw it up. I know that's not fair, they might have a fine director, with fine writers, but I am not holding out hope for that. Better to be prepared for disappointment and be pleasantly surprised, then expect something great simply because Raimi and Campbell throw their support behind it. Yes, I am hoping the movie doesn't get made, and think that the talk about it maybe not happening now is good news. But if it does get remade, I also won't blame either of them for banking on it. Thats the way it goes. But I agree, like I said before, if it gets remade, I would just as soon see them write Ash out completely. If they are going to do it, the director should take some risks, and make the film his own, while paying respect to the original film. But that's why fans get so upset. It is rare that a remake strikes that very delicate balance. You have to have some sense that the people making the film understand the movie they are remaking, that they respect that film, and its fans, maybe even LOVE that film.....while also making their own film, and not just completely ripping off the original.

Even if Raimi didn't make much off the first series, it did launch his career, which in turn has made him a sh*tload of money since then. Can we say Spiderman?

What Sam is wanting to do with this remake is to start someone elses career. They should just let me and Jen remake it.
