It's the third part of his long-awaited Three Mothers trilogy. Part 1 is Suspiria, Part 2 is Inferno, and this is Part 3. Each one deals with a particularly powerful witch from a Latin book known as Suspiria de Profundis, and a specific section known as Levana and Our Ladies of Sorrow. I'm not familiar with it in any further detail, but the Three Mothers Mater Suspiriorum (Our Lady of Sighs) is in Suspiria, Mater Tenebrarum (Our Lady of Darkness) is in Inferno and Mater Lachrymarum (Our Lady of Tears) is in this one.

Back when Dario first made Suspiria, there was an interview where he claimed that the book could be provided as the source material for about 100 films, so take that for what you will.

Well, Suspiria is tied with DOTD '78 as my favorite horror film, and I really loved Inferno as well. I had no idea about this, but I am definitely sold 100% on it

I watched the Three Mothers trilogy over consecutive nights recently. Bad idea,as this one suffered immeasurably from it.It's so bland, too linear(especially for Argento),and really doesn't feel like an Argento film at all. I didn't expect it to be anywhere near the league of Suspiria, but still it's a major disappointment.
And Memo to Argento:Please stop casting your daughter in your films. Sincerely - The Walking Dude

Suspiria is the only one I've seen. I want to see Inferno but should I bother with this one at all?

It's total garbage. Some cool gore effects, but the 'acting' & 'plot'... Props for bringing back Daria Nicolodi though. She's in at the start of Suspiria and I believe this is meant to be the same character.

I'm kinda with you on Asia, Walking Dude. As hot as she is, his other daughter, Fiore, is even hotter but you hardly ever see her. Asia's still pretty hot, though, so I can't complain about her being here, just a change of pace would be appreciated.
If you like a lot of crazy gore effects and rampant Euro nudity in your flicks, CT, give this one a chance. If you care for those unimportant matters like acting quality, directorial competence, script coherency and other useless qualities, then steer clear of it.
