I think Nightbreed is a great movie, and I don't know how you can call it overrated. Most people hve never even seen it. On the old HMaM there was a thread devoted to it and only me, Jen, and Conan posted in there that they'd even seen it. The film doesn't have a big following or anything as far as I know

Haven't seen it either I confess. Though a blessing to GL for talking me into getting NOTLD 1990 - the Tom Savini remake. I was very, very wary about this one, and as soon as we had ''I'm coming to get you Barbara'' after the opening credits I was ready to turn it off in disgust. Then, however what looks like the same sort of zombie lumbering towards them from among the gravestones turns out to be a traumatised old bloke... and as soon as you twig to that a fair dinkum zombie attacks . That kept me going. And I was impressed with the Ben character, and loved the way Barbara was turned into something of a femme fatale rather than being a catatonic blonde. All up a pretty good remake (sorry LdC). Still not a patch on the original, but done with loving care... unlike the version we don't speak of here. I was bemused however with the ''making of'' documentary where Savini managed to say he thought the cuts the MPAA demanded to some scenes actually helped the movie!!! Pig's arse, Tom... how many takes did that need until you could utter those words with a straight face??? Thanks GL. A worthy addition to the Toad collection.

Hahahaha......I admit it, I LOVE that movie, but stop looking at me, you're making me nervous..... Sorry you didn't like it much. But I think HNT is right, not too many people have seen it, so I don't think it could possibly be overrated. But dammit, Cronenberg as Decker? Genius, I say, genius (maybe that is what you meant huh? ) Well, I tried to watch Final Destination 3, but got interrupted so will finish it tomorrow. So far, more of the same, but I am okay with that. The roller coaster scene was well done.

My exact sentiments about it: not in the same league as the original, but in the upper echelon of remakes because of the care and respect it has for it's parent film. Sorry, Jen, for putting you on the spot, but I thought there was a couple out there who had seen it and loved it. I'll admit it has it's moments of potential and I liked the odd scene here and there, but I just wasn't that into it I thought it was. Maybe a second viewing later on without having seen Cannibal Holocaust first will raise my opinion of it.

Ah, that's okay, GL, most people know I love that movie. I never said it was masterpiece or anything, just a movie I really enjoy. I know it isn't for everyone.
Well, I finished Final Destination 3. Like I said, nothing new and there was some REALLY annoying characters. But hey, you got to see them die! Haha.....some really good death scenes, so while I didn't it enjoy it as much as the first two, I liked it pretty good.

Phantasm IV. Probably the weakest in the series, with an annoying ending given that Coscarelli didn't get the money to do V. Let's hope his re-imagining cuts the mustard... Boooooy!

Do you think it will be reimagined with a coherent plot? I was very impressed with Bubba Ho-Tep, so I have renewed faith on Coscarelli's abilities to make a good film

I'd like to hope - are you listening Mr Coscarelli? - that he re-imagines the first, but weaves through it some of the disjointed explanatory stuff found in the subsequent three (the origins of the Tall Man, what's in the silver spheres etc). Plus I want to know more about the Red Planet. But please please give me Reggie and Angus Scrimm - I think one of the strengths of the films was that it broke the mold in not having the principal characters young and clean cut. Phantasm with out Scrimm would be like NOES without Robert Englund.

I think Scrimm may be dead. I'll have to check on that.
Don't worry, I take it back. He is alive and kicking albeit very old

He actually appeared recently in the Coscarelli instalment of Masters of Horror - An Incident On and Off a Mountain Road.

Glad to hear it. He is a fun charactrer actor. I looked on IMDB at some of the other genre work he did, and I have to admit that he has been in a handful ofnon-Phantasm projects tht were also ok
