No doubt you would have heard about the devastating floods affecting Queensland. It's affecting me quite deeply as I've spent several years in Brisbane, and have so many great friends and a number of family members there.
I can report the good news that both Phantom and Canetoad are safe, and their houses unaffected.
But thousands others are not so lucky. 15 people have been confirmed dead, and the city has become a ghost town.20,000 homes or businesses have been damaged by the floods.
Just wanted to share.

I had read glimpses of that in the papers here, but it's not a top-priority event I guess where I live so not a whole lot is made of it, but I'm glad to know you're all okay and that you're safe and well. Thanks for sharing.

I'd just like to clarify, that I'm currently not living in Brisbane,I'm well out of harm's way in a different state. But as I have spent several years living there, it sorta feels like home in some ways.Thank you for the well wishes, luckily all my loved ones have escaped unscathed.

I've seen a lot of footage on the news, of the Mississippi bursting it's banks, and a lot of tornados. It's been a terrible year for natural disasters, with floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, and now I hear there's a volcano erupting in Scandinavia.

Yeah, the floods around the Mississippi are pretty wild. I'm not sure how ridiculous shit has to get before we can all just agree that climate change is a real thing and make an effort to do something about it, but it would seem that we might wake up en masse to the fact that we need to change our lifestyles after the effects are irreversible already
