Directed By: Gareth Edwards Starring: Scoot McNairy, Whitney Able Genre: Science Fiction Length: 94 Minutes Six years after a returning NASA spaceprobe crash landed in Central America, much of Mexico is now inhabited by large monstrous alien creatures. The infected zone stretches all the way up to the U.S. Border where the government has built an enormous wall that would put China's Great Wall to shame. Travel within this zone is perilous at best and should be avoided. Traveling south of the infected zone, a young photojournalist finds himself tasked with escorting home to the U.S. the daughter of his rich boss. When their plan to take a ferry around the danerous area falls through, they are forced to travel through the affected lands at their own risk. With the things they see and experience they'll have plenty of stories to tell...if they make it home..The film borrows heavily from District 9's plot but I think I may have liked this one a little better personally.

Nobody saw this? It's been forever, I should rewatch it and see if I still like it as much. I think I only watched it once..

I thought this was pretty good. Not at all what I expected, but in a good way. Its weakness lays in the relationship story which is essentially the focus of the film, with the monstery business providing an intriguing backdrop. The two principal characters felt to me like they were on valium throughout and failed to engage me fully. Lack of charisma? Acting ability? Were they fully engaged with what was going on script-wise (although I understand most of it was improvised)? Perhaps all three. Ultimately an impressive film considering the resources the director had at hand (he edited the footage and did all of the special effects on his computer at home) and I'm with you CT inthat now I've thought about it again I need to watch it again.

It's a pretty decent Sci-Fi flick. It's worth watching to see how a low budget sci-fi film can be pulled off pretty well as GP pointed out. He's right about the main characters not being too captivating, but I thoroughly enjoyed the premise. Probably more of a rental than a purchase though.

I didn't care for this movie. I would recommend just to fast forward the movie until the last ten minutes. Thank god I didn't buy it.
