When a family gathers together at a large mountainside cottage for a reunion, the children come into contact with a strange virus that makes them homicidal maniacs who begin to kill off the others one-by-one, forcing them into a fight for survival to get away. What did everyone think of this one?

One of my favorites from the last few years actually. I thought it was VERY creepy at times. Some character issues, but overall, I loved it. It made my list of horror that I watch every year at Christmas. Flawed, but I give it a solid 4.

3.5 from me. Very solid but I found the lead chick a bit of a distraction

I'd have given this a 4 as well if only I didn't have such issues with the different characters here. I wanted to just beat the hell out of the parents for their blatant stupidity in keeping themselves in danger the entire time, and I wanted to do the same to the children for just being their and what they were doing. It was wholly frustrating to see that going on and it really lowered the film for me somewhat, despite the nice stalking scenes and gore.

I get the issues with the parents, though I can't really imagine a much more horrible set up than your own children trying to murder you in terrible ways and you having to fight and maybe kill them to survive....so some of their stupidity is pretty understandable. I don't really get feeling that way about the children, no more than any nameless evil or monster in a horror movie. It's not like they were in control of themselves.

Interesting concept (written on the back of a cigarette pack) spoiled by horrible drama school acting and accents (English TV and films would have you think that 90% of us speak like that, in fact only about 0.00005% do and they all went to the same five drama schools) and idiotic, illogical character behaviour thanks to crap writers.
I gave it an extra point for the hot chick. Interestingly she is barely known in the UK but her older sister is an ex-soap star and Strictly Come Dancing celeb. She's fit too.

A few people I know with kids who have seen it,said it's from this angle where the film's strength lies. How could you kill your own child?

In this situation, their survival means nothing to me if they're trying to kill me. Protect yourself first, you can always make more.
Yet, the fact that I'm not a parent yet (and not planning on it for a while) makes me know I'll feel differently in such a situation were it to happen in real life. It's a pretty weird feeling I have.

I don't have children, but I still find the idea of having to kill your own children to survive horrifying, even in a movie. It really disturbed me. Maybe that's why I like the movie so much. But I'm weird with movies, sometimes a movie can overcome it's stupid characters for me (this one did for me personally) and then others can't. Eden Lake and The Strangers were two movies that I thought were really well done in a lot of ways, but was killed by character actions that made absolutely no sense to me.

I'm totally with you on Eden Lake, Jen, which was the same way where it had a lot of potential to do something great and original yet the mere fact of putting themselves in danger through a series of stupid and illogical acts that grew irritating rather than horrifying quickly killed it. I do like this one more, but it's still flawed in many ways.
For me, though, the main reason is that I've never found kids scary, especially when it's only a small group as seen here since the entire lot of kids never attack at once, it's usually only one or two at a time. Pin them down, beat the crap out of them, and repeat as necessary if they continue to behave in such a manner until help arrives. It's not that complicated.
