Right now I'm watching the first of my re-edits of the entire Halloween series. Basically, I cut out all of the elements which ruined the franchise. There are 5 films in my version, Halloween 3 and all but one scene from Resurrection have been excised from the series. The idea was to bring it back to the basics of the first film, Mikael chasing Laurie.
One of my favorite edits fixes the little problem in Halloween where Laurie is driving in the car with her friend, its in the middle of the day and apparently it takes them hours and hours to drive across town, because in the next scene its all of a sudden pitch dark out. I fix that by adding the scene from part 3 of the kids trick or treating, plus I added the shamrock song under the part of Laurie driving.
Of course the most important thing to remember about my re-edit is that you have to forget everything you know about the Halloween franchise and watch it for what it is.
If I knew how I would upload it as a torrent for everyone to download.

Sounds interesting. It wouldn't be hard for me to forget since I just remember bits and pieces of the films.

I don't really get behind fan-made stuff like this (mainly because I actually love the series as it is anyway) but to me this ranks up there as a form of censorship and I can't really support that. A sign of talent but beyond that, I don't have much good to say about it.

Censorship implies restricting ones ability to see the thing as it was originally intended, and obviosly I cant deleate the Halloween franchise from the memory of man, so it doesnt count as censorship.
Although I did deleate the Thorn curse crap.

It is censorship, CS. You're dictating to us what we can and can not watch by altering the films the way you see fit and only the way you see fit without regard for the film's original intent. That sounds like censorship in my book.

I'm not sure if it should be called censorship or not. Perhaps, but then every piece of edited artwork would qualify as something that has been censored. If it is censorship, I would say that a fan made re-imagining of a film series is a pretty innocent form of it. Especially considering the original versions are widely available.
If a major dvd outlet decided to pick up Clath's version of the Halloween series and discard the original versions, then I would have a problem as far as censorship is concerned.

I don't consider it censorship because there is no intent to restrict access to the originals, though I do see it as an awful lot of time to spend piecing together something that nobody else will ever see. I also have a fan reimagined version of Halloween. It goes like this. I watch Halloween often, Halloween 3 occasionally, and I try to forget any of the other sequels were ever made. Its worked well thus far, and has not required any fancy editing on my part. in fact, its saved me tons of money buying crap films I'd never watch. I did something similar with F13 (I own only 1, 4, and 7) and TCM (I own only the first three). I own the entire NOES series, but that is only because I got suckered into buying the box set early because it looked so sweet. I learned my lesson from that mistake and have never repeated it.

Don't worry, the fact that you will watch it and also twist your girlfriend's arm into pretending she cares does nothing to invalidate my theory...

I was?
So I said, go and watch my version right now, or Ill break your arm!
It was an offer, one which I might add, I cant ever promise, as I don't know how to upload it for anyone who might be interested.
Plus, there are tons of horror fans who think the Halloween franchise was ruined by what some of the films did, and so your comment doesn't completely apply.

Here I thought my offer was a nice gesture to my fellow horror fans who might be interested in a different version of the Halloween franchise. One which was done in love for horror and some of the films. Please forgive me. :-/Hmmm

Quit expressing yourself! In all seriousness, we welcome you sharing your ideas, but people are also free to share their opinions of your ideas. Don't take it personally. I started a thread about the Children of the Corn series and said I liked it. Everyone, including you, bluntly replied with opinions of how utterly horrible it is. But hey that's honest discussion so I didn't take it personally.
