We have a thread on the original, but here's a thread for the entire series including the original. What are your thoughts on these films?Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)Revenge of the Creature (1955)The Creature Walks Among Us (1956)

Same here. My main reason for starting this thread was to gather the thoughts of those who might have seen them. And I don't think I've seen the original since I was like 12 and barely remember it.

The original gets the press because it came first, but I actually prefer the sequel, which is a lot of fun and far more action-packed than you would expect for a film of that time. Part 3's decent enough, but it spends far too much time on the love triangle between the creature, the girl he's after, and her boyfriend, while also staying a little too slow because he's trapped and in the zoo the entire time.

Nice, I'll be sure to look out for the second one.

They're consistently part of AMC around Halloween, I'll give you the airdates and times. They'll usually marathon them so you can get the whole series at once.

GL's summary is actually pretty accurate. I agree that Revenge of the Creature is the best one. The original mostly gets hyped for what was then groundbreaking underwater photography. They spend an awful lot of time filming some fish swimming around because it really wowed audiences back in the day the way that 3D blue Avatar dudes would an audience today. As for the movie itself, its alright, but a special effects spectacular from more than half a century ago is just not gonna really blow anyone away in 2012

Well, it is pretty to look at, so there's that, but if you want to talk about an entertaining film overall, go with the sequel. Both aren't bad choices, and three isn't a terrible option but is overall flawed compared to the others.

Actually almost watched them a few hours ago.
I downloaded all the universal monsters films recently.
I have a hard time decidiing which is better, I think they are all great for thier own reasons, I dont think there is a bad one in the series

I'm not arguing that, but Creature Walks Among Us is the lesser of the greatness. That's clearly the weakest of the three.

I thought 2 was a little weaker then 3, from what I remember

Part 3 is the weak one. That's where he's trapped in the zoo the entire time and we get the love triangle throughout the whole film with his keeper and the girlfriend instead of letting him loose like the other two.
