Wanted to see this for ages, missed it at the cinema. I'm glad I did, Garland and Boyle once again prove they don't have an original idea between them. Just like 28 Days Later it's visually stylish but otherwise depressingly derivative and stuck so far up its own arse its got turds for ankles.
Bollocks.
I really hope Rendezvous With Rama goes ahead as I'm desperate for some good new high concept science fiction.

i found it quite boring , normally i can sit and watch a film all the way through, but with this one i could get up and make a drink , sort the washing etc without pausing it. visually ok , very dark, otherwise a bit of a yawnfest.

You guys have spent an awful lot of time discussing a film that you all seem to agree was shitty, lol

Where's the BS smilie thingy when you need it?? Bugger. Saw Sunhine on the big screen and while I wouldn't say I loved it, I thought it was pretty damn good... yes it recycled a few ideas but I thought pretty well with a few new twists. And maybe I'm a big girl's blouse but I was on the edge of my seat on a couple of occassions ( the repairing of the panels for starters). Looking forward to picking up the DVD when we get an extended cut. So..

Good actors, nice production design and a wodge of cash and all they could do was give us a mish mash of Dark Star, Event Horizon and Supernova. SUPERNOVA!!!!. If Danny Boyle could only drag himself away from that bloody hack Alex Garland he could do so much better. On a positive note I did laugh at the villain's name, at least it was a knowing wink to Dark Star fans.

A strange thing happened recently. I watched this again with my dad and... I really liked it. Because I was expecting to hate it again I saw the positives and simply appreciated the visual side. So much so in fact that I bought it on bluray and WOW. Stunning show off disc for your system. It's script is still unoriginal and derivative but it just looks stunning and some of the acting is really first rate.
