Ju-on: The Grudge 2003 Directed by Takashi Shimizu"It is said in Japan that when someone dies in extreme sorrow or rage, the emotion remains and can leave a stain upon that place. Death becomes a part of that place, killing everything it touches.
Once it sees you, it never lets go."--- --- --- --- ---Rate this movie one a scale of 0 - 5 stars. (5 being the 'best'!)

I watched the remake first, and surprisingly enough, liked it (I didn't like The Ring, which is highly overrated in my opinion, and was expecting The Grudge to be a disappointment as well). Anyway, the remake is decent, but the original is much better. Its a tad confusing, sometimes hard to follow, but its a very well-made, and geniunely creepy film. A 4 from me.

Perhaps not a cinematic work of art but this was the first J-horror I saw that featured the long haired spastic chick of death so popular in asian horror. I wathced it with the lights out and the amp cranked up loud and it simply scared the piss out of me. For that reason alone (it's a very rare occurrence) it gets a 5.

I give it a five. I love all the Grudge movies, they are so creepy and scary! Sometimes, I have to take a few breaks when it comes to the subtitles but its worth it in the long run.

I completly disagre with that, it has amazing camera work in it, after so many years of hollywood offerings I found this, and Asain horror in general, a breath of fresh air. Disagree also with this, thought the Ring was even better then this. Now the reamke

Caught up with this one, and I'll go with a solid 4. Highly impressive at times, and definitely worthy of getting some good points out of it, mainly from the scares which are quite creepy and definitely scary ghost popping up whenever you least expect it in areas that are quite shocking to see them come from. The workplace ambush on the security guard, the lone girl in the apartment, the police detectives in the house and the reporter in the hotel room are all outstanding sequences that work very well because of where the ghost finally pops up and how creepy it is, which generates some rather creepy moments from time-to-time. Unfortunately, it's also pretty problematic, plagued by a plot that's far too disjointed to make any sense as we constantly zip around to view the dozen or so different stories that are told within, making it nearly impossible to keep track of who's who here, and then because we learn so late in the film what's actually going on, it's far too late to really care. When it sticks to the ghosts, it's great stuff all around.
