Audition (1999) Directed by Takashi Miike "She always gets a part" A widower is convinced by a friend to stage a fake audition to screen potential wives to be. There is one he becomes instantly infatuated with, but she is not what she seems. ----------- Rate this film on a scale of 0-5 stars, 5 being the best.

Foget Hard Candy, this is the real deal. Starts slowly before getting more and more uncomfortable then blows your brains at the finale.

This one was my favorite Asian film for awhile (before I watched A Tale of Two Sisters and Oldboy). I've watched it several times now, and all I can say is, its simply a masterpiece. The build-up is very slow (and I am sure some would say it was boring), but I love the film as a whole, not just for the intense last few minutes. The characters are finely developed, its wonderfully acted, and frightening. Its one where all you can do is just sit back and watch with growing horror......exceptionally well-done. Phantom you have to see this movie....

I gave it a 4. I think it's an incredible film that, through its disturbing images, is thoroughly about characterization. And among all the horror movies that try to be poetic, this one actually pulls it off.
I didn't give it a 5, though. And that's because I think they made Asami too much like a ghost or a figment of her victims' imagination.

I gave it a four. I haven't watched it in a while but I remember the girl sticking some needles in the dude. Ouch!

Intense, original, f**ked up, and disturbing. One of the first Asian horror I saw (besides grudge, the ring)
