I think there's only a couple working prints of this one in 3-D if I'm not mistaken. The most famous one is a theatre troupe in Canada that still screen it every year.

I'd rather wait until there's some positive feedback about their stuff before I take the plunge. So many companies release stuff without anything of substance to really stay afloat.

Does it come with 3d glasses. Once I nearly ordered a copy form somewhere but you needed a special kind of 3d glasses.

If you order the Chinese DVD, it does. That's one of the last 3D copies of the film left. But it has burned on Chinese subtitles, so you have to have them on the screen.

I probably won't bother then.

Probably for the best. Unless you understood Chinese, of course!

Well, the movie is in English with the subtitles in Chinese, that might be a good thing to try. Just make sure you have a region free DVD player, the DVD is R6.

Just another fun, all-gore, no substance slasher to enjoy in the Friday the 13th series. Plus, someone gets a nice hockey mask.

I gave it a 4.
I've seen these 8 movies so many times, I'm hyper-aware of the differences in style between each one and I would say there are basic groups these movies fit into. So, within the basic group of the first 3 Friday the 13th movies, part 3 is the best. Managing to outdo the first.
Now, with my weird standards, I did not use death scenes or blood & gore or nudity or these things to decide what made this such a great movie. I would simply say in terms of structure, this movie works the best.
Though it does offer something different than the first, which is its' biggest competition in these earlier films. For example, in most of the early Friday the 13th films, it rains. This film doesn't have rain. This effects the music / sound design of the film. The impressive thing about that is that this makes the movie much more suspenseful.
There's more to it than that, of course. The difference between the two endings, of course. The canoe scene in the first Friday will always be superior. But, when Chris gets back to the cabin with Rick... it's actually twice the suspense and nerve-shattering, edge-of-your-seat excitement. This differs from the first film because the film would really hit its peak / rise in the middle of a suspenseful scene, then fall, because Alice would run away and hide in another place. The amount of tension for this film's ending is incredible. And it actually makes the part where Chris comes out of hiding very believable. She really looks beaten and wore out. And it's very easy to believe. Because she's been running and clutching on to a quick breath.
Basically, as soon as that body falls out of that tree, it's constant running and the music doesn't stop, and the tension of the scene never falls. Not until she hangs Jason and has to climb down out of the hay loft. It's just one of the most amazing endings I've ever seen in a "slasher" movie. It has a little bit of everything. She runs and hides, she screams, she fights back, she tries to escape but is thwarted somewhat. The music is also given an unbelievable workout. This section of any Friday movie he scored represents his biggest sort of challenge.
Before that, I would say the death scenes are all classics. And it does make the movie pretty cool. But the movie covers the time inbetween with some well-written scenes. And the ones that aren't so good are still better than some of the more embarrassing scenes in most other Friday films.

An underrated entry, to be sure, and one I enjoy heartedly, although the pacing does lag somewhat in the middle while we're waiting for Jason to get to work, and the Final Girl battle is seriously lacking compared to the glorious ones it's sandwiched in between with. An uncut print might restore some of that negitivity, but glad to hear you enjoy this one.
