Hypothetical situation:
You meet a friend, bonding over a favorite activity/movie/hobby, etc,. and when the time comes to introduce your musical tastes, your friend has never heard of what you listen to but is willing to be introduced to them for the sake of the friendship. Pick 5 CDs that you have in your collection to introduce your friend to your musical tastes/genre, or whatever you want to call it.
Please, keep it to 5, and give explainations as to why you're picking those.

Marilyn Manson - Holy Wood Eminem - Relapse Eminem - The Marshal Mather LP Slayer- Christ Illusion Marilyn Manson - The High End Of Low
I pick these five because it sums up the dark and brutal tone that most of my favourite music has.

Slayer, fine. There's better albums out there (personally, if you're going to introduce them to Slayer, I'd go with Seasons or even South of Heaven) but that's still not a bad one. The other two suck, though.

Interesting question. I don't have only one genre, so I will pick several CD's that I would recommend to anyone.
1) The Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables. Amazing punk rock with the warped surf guitar. Funny and thought proviking political lyrics. Can't go wrong
2) Ministry - The Land of Rape and Honey. Great industrial vibe from the late 80's. You can clearly hear the progression to industrial metal here, but the pounding methodical industrial dance feel is not completely abandoned yet. Stigmata is one of the all time great singles.
3) Slayer - Reign in Blood. Pure aggression on record. Bands have been heavier and more technical since, but no one has ever achieved this degree of brute force.
4) Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde. THe poetry is effortless and never seems forced. Probably the only true poet to work in the rock genre. An all time masterpiece
5) Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet. A reminder that rap music was not always stupid. There was a time when it really was revolutionary and reflected a musical rebellion. Suddenly it began to sell to suburban white kids, and the very real political messages were replaced with gross caricatures of black life intended to entertain those who view the world in stereotypical terms. This was really profound and angry, though. It was as if a Black Panther rally was set o music. Stunning stuff

I respect that you don't like them but it doesn't mea they suck lol Yeah i find it really hard to choose my fav Slayer album cuz i love them all lol.

Fine, you may respect them (I don't know why) but to call them brutal is a farce. They're not.

Nice choice on Fear of a Black planet HNT, I was once a big HIP HOP fan, but now find the only artists I have time for are PE and Ice T .I love the song Son of a Bush off Revolverlution.... Son of a Bush aint that a son of a Bush....
anyhoo
album No1! Killer - alice Cooper -Reason? My favourite album of my favourite artist. So theatrical, it's a horror, and a western, and a car chase and it's pretty much every exploitation genre you could squeeze in to an hour.
probably a JC score next but which one? The Fog! although not my fave of his movies, the score is just so brooding so bleak, so eveloping, just like a fog itself really.
Roky erikson - gremlins have pictures This dude man is so out there he speaks bizarre lyrics that make sense as a horror fan,or anyone willing to expand their mind... "the square root of zero is something smaller than zero, and keeps getting smaller"
Charles Manson - Lie Now stop looking at me like that and believe me when I say if things had gonne down another path we would know the name Charles Manson for very different reasons.
The misfits Famous Monsters They bought in a singer at this point who defined them for me, I have more Graves music than pure Misfits, their odes to horror flicks both new and old define my tastes ..... songs about horror
HORROR MUSIC! It's as diverse as they come!

THanks MAtt. PE are great.
The Roky Erickson pull is impressive too, man. I personally would elevate Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators above his solo stuff, but he is awesome. You also reminded me to mention SKip Spence. Oar is a genious record too.

Guess I'll introduce each of mine, and since I listen to six different genres equally, I'll do that instead one at a time:
Black Metal- Emperor-In the Nightside Eclipse They may have done better albums (I personally believe XI Equilibrium is their best) I think I'd rather introduce someone to them through their debut. It's a lot more fierce and primal, like they have more to prove and they came out with some of their best songs ever. With “Cosmic Keys to My Creations and Times,” “Beyond the Great Vast Forest,” “Into the Infinity of Thoughts,” “Inno A Satana” and the essential pick “I Am the Black Wizards,” it's almost a complete greatest hits album on its own and definitely doesn't have any downside at all. The two cover songs aren't bad but they do hurt the flow the original songs have and stick out, but this is a hard one to stop listening to once it starts. Utterly essential recording.
Mayhem-De Mysteris Dom Sathanas Perhaps the most controversial pick, due to the background surrounding it but also because it can be validly argued that ‘Deathcrush’ is more important in terms of laying down the groundwork for the genre, I think this one works better in terms of getting the ball rolling and giving the genre its first undisputed classic. Everything in here works to make it primal and raw, from those buzzing guitars, the howling drums, insane vocals and purely dark compositions. Nearly every song here is a Black Metal staple, from the title track to “Funeral Fog,” “Buried by Time and Dust,” and “From the Dark Past” as well as two of the genres most revered and influential songs, “Freezing Moon” and “Pagan Fears.” For these two alone the CD should be called essential, but when they’re also surrounded by greatness, it’s hard to argue with perfection.
Dimmu Borgir-Death Cult Armageddon Again, like with Emperor, not my choice for the group’s particular best CD, but simply one I think most non-fans will get into a little easier. “Progenies…” definitely has a lot to do with that, as it’s about as close to a Black Metal single as there ever will be that will be accepted by both the kvlt fans as well as the mainstream metalheads, but looking over the rest of the CD, there’s a lot more to this than just one big song. “Lepers Among Us” and “Vredesbyrd,” when combined with “Progenies…” makes for an utterly fantastic way of starting things off, “Cataclysm Children” and “Eradication Instincts Defined” end the album on such a similar high, and the more traditional, Symphonic-laced middle section of “Blood Hunger Doctrine” and “Allehelgens Død I Helveds Rike” offer a great return-to-form with all the commercial keyboards getting used in here. For its commerciality as well as sense of brutality, I’m giving it a nod here.
Immortal-At the Heart of Winter An unheralded release, definitely my favorite of the group, and perhaps one of the best in the genre, this one really doesn’t have many flaws with it. When I can say that I really wished it had more songs on be the only flaw to it, it’s a fantastic release and is certainly got a lot going for it. From the unique perspective of straying from the usual Satanic/Anti-Christian lyrics so often used by the others in the genre, the difference in using a different subject matter makes for a fun experience, and this is certainly matched by the epic songs on here, which are moody, atmospheric, and at times a lot more than just the usual affairs found on Black Metal CDs. With a collection of awesome songs to go along with it, from “Withstand the Fall of Time” and “Years of Silent Sorrow” to the mind-blowing epic “Tragedies Blows at Horizon” and the crushing title-track, this is a fantastic effort that certainly deserves to be heard.
Satyricon-Now, Diabolical For those that feel/think Black Metal is simply a bunch of noise with no melody or song-writing skills, I offer this one up. It’s certainly caustic and primal when it wants to be (“The Rite of Our Cross” being the first song to offer up that ever-important blast-beat so prevalent in the genre, and it’s the fifth song in order on the CD) but the fact that the three singles in here, “K.I.N.G,” “The Pentagram Burns” and “Delirium” are perhaps some of the most melodically-tinged songs out there that still fall into the realms of the genre is a mighty impressive skill, and that the rest of the songs on here are so good and catchy, as well as the singles, makes this one an easy choice for those looking to see what else the genre has besides the above-mentioned acts.

Ah, so you cheated Gl, lol. We all had to limit our choices to 5 albums and you are gonna pick 5 albums from each of the genres you like. well, I listen to more than 6 genres, so if I can do it that way I'll list about a hundred albums total.
