One of the most anticipated releases of the year, what's you're thoughts on this one?

I haven't actually anticipated a Metallica release since waiting for the Black album and getting so sorely dissapointed back in 1990. This will be no different. THey are sellout wastes of time and energy, and I'd sooner listen to a giraffe fart than Metallica at this point

I'm with HNT on this one. Metallica has let me down with every single release I have been old enough to see. Like HNT said, this one won't be any different.

No Bob Rock, fast and aggressive, looping elasticky bass nicely presented in the mix, killer riffs. Death Magnetic is pretty awesome. Track by track review here.

I will be the first to admit it. I completely ate my words on this. 'Death Magnetic' is a solid album.

The stuff I've heard is actually really impressive, I may go out and get it.

Are you all serious? It is so poorly recorded. It is all compressed recording intended to artificially increase the volume (like they so with television commercials). It takes out all of the nuances in the sounds of the various instruments, and presents a wall of loud but indistinct noise. Add to that the fact that Hetfield has somehow convinced himself that he can sing rather than act as a traditional thrash vocalist, and whole thing is ust an enbarassing abortion. I will give you that its probably better than St. Anger, but that doesn't even rate it among the top 1,000 albums that are on my list of things to get at this point.
Metallica are finished. They have no passion left for what they do. They have more than enough money, and should just shut up go away and start spending it. Leave the music industry to those younger and hungrier who still have some interest in making quality records
