What do you think of this comic book movie classic? Also how does it compare to the more recent Batman Begins and Dark Knight?

This movie will always be the best. This film did what the dark knight failed at which was bringing you into batmans world. this movie was fun dark and entrtaining. keaton wa sgreat and so was jack. Jack nicholsons joker was better than heaths not in acting but in writing. this was clsoer to the comic than any other intsallment and i loved jacks many suits and Batmans awesome black suit!

This one gets a 5 from me, I LOVE this movie. But I also loved both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (which I feel is not only a good comic book movie, but just an all around wonderful film). And though I never thought I would say this in a million years, I do prefer Ledger's Joker just because....well, he was scarier. Nicholson's performance was over the top and fun, and he totally stole the movie.....but Ledger did it in a different way that just appealed to me more I guess.
But I think they are both very good, just in different ways. I will say that this is pretty much the only Batman film I really cared for until Batman Begins, though I find most of them entertaining to a degree. I am not even really a huge fan of Batman Returns.

Great points guys. This was a great movie, not sure if it's my favorite one, but def. Close. The beginning was scary as a kid and Keaton looked great in the suit and was decent as Wayne too. The joker was superb. I like Ledgers and Nicholsons Jokers equally and am glad we got to see both awesome interpretations of the character. Ledger was far scarier as Jen said, and Nicholson was goofy yet still deadly.
5/5

I still feel much the same today as when I saw this at the cinema. I wanted to love it but certain things stopped me. Prior to seeing it I was really into the idea of Batman being a prime physical specimen, like a Tarzan or Doc Savage type character in a modern world but with incredible intellect to match. What I got was Michael Keaton in a stiff rubber suit. In addition Gotham never felt real to me. The sets were fabulous but wide shots were marred by poorly integrated matte paintings (contrasted say with those in Blader Runner). I think perhaps I just don't get the Tim Burton thing. Outside of Sleepy Hollow I've never really been sucked into anything he's done. Hence a 3.
