I've recently been getting a lot of heat on another forum for this taste of mine, where I like the laugh track that plays along on TV shows, so I thought it would be something to bring along to you guys.
Do you like to have a laugh track play along when your watching TV shows?
I put a couple choices up there, choose among the one which describes you the most.

No, the funniest shows never have a laugh track. They seem absurd to me. I am simply not too dumb to figure out where to laugh so why do I need prompting? A show that is taped live and has a live audience laughing is cool. Laugh tracks sound so phony and unnecessary. I don't get the purpose of them.
As far as I'm concerned, the funniest shows on television right now are Its Always Sunny in Phjiladelphia, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Bored to Death. None of them have laugh tracks and they are funnier for it

Laugh tracks can be fun in a campy sort of way. I think it's also a nostalgic thing since so many shows had them when I was a kid and now so few do. But with that said, I can't think of a single show I REALLY like that has a laughtrack. It's fun when your watching old tv programs, but I think HNT is right that it's not exactly the mark of a good show.

ahh canned laughter where would the humble sitcom be without it?
For me it seemed to work in some of the classic shows like Get Smart, Happy Days, Married ,With Children et all probably because at least in the latter two's case they were actually filmed with an audience. Oh and they were funny too!
Nowadays, most of the sitcoms are just lame, and the laugh track feels a bit patronising.

Wow, so you guys all think that I deserve the ridicule for thinking that a sitcom is better with a laugh track? Makes me a little sad, but I know I'll get over it.
What can I say, I grew up with them, I"m used to them and I really find that it's hampered my viewing of shows that don't have them. I never really got the sitcoms that didn't have one, and I tended to stick to the traditional shows all the way, and while I'm trying to get into those kinds of shows nowadays, I still find the canned-laughter shows much more entertaining and comforting.

I don't think anyone said that you deserved ridicule. I just think that everyone here disagrees with you. Hey, man, you just praised Uwe Boll a second ago. Certainly you are no stranger to people disagreeing with these points of view on things
