Wotcher folks. I wrote an article on cannibal movies for The Quietus a couple of months ago and they have finally published it (just after the news that it appears Cannibals has been shelved renders it kind of redundant ). HOWEVER if any of you good folks would care to give it a read and, even better, shill it around your forums and networks then I will gladly remove your likenesses from the enormous amorphous effigy I have been constructing from my own earwax and faeces as an offering to the Blood God KHORNE. The article can be read here.

Great article GP! Extremely well written, intelligent, and informative. Good point about the Amazon being the ultimate "backwoods" setting as opposed to the common backwoods in America setting in which civilization is usually 25 miles away or less. I didn't even realize Blair Witch was derivative of Cannibal Holocaust although it makes sense now that you point it out. (still haven't seen ch) I love the classic pirate movies of the mid 20th century. The Black Swan, Pirates of Tortuga, The Bucaneer's Girl, Yankee Bucaneer, Etc. are some of my favorites. Im making this thread an announcement for all to see and hopefully read the article, let us know when you have more puplished.

Cheers fellas. I really appreciate your feedback on this. To get such nice comments from people whose opinion I value extremely highly is a real boon. Some of my older crap is listed to the right of the screen, the Uwe Boll one is probably my personal favourite and has proved for some reason the most popular of my articles hits-wise.
Than :Dks again.

After reading a comment on that forum Mat I should also point out that the page mistakenly titles the piece 'Why Cannibals are the New Zombies', that should read Pirates.

I've got the page locked for future reading, I haven't the time now but rest assured it will be read and digested soon enough.

I think its a very well written, interesting article. But like CT, I have never seen Cannibal Holocaust and I never plan to really. The Uwe Boll article is just awesome.

Actually got to go to a press screening for that. Attended another a while back for a crap soccer hooligan flick called Away Days. I'm hoping some time they might ask me to do something good. Re: Mistitling I was referring to the fact that it's actually mistitled on The Quietus page. Can't change it now though as it's been up for best part of a week.

Very interesting article, and you are quite right about the derivative nature of Blair Witch and the fact that Cannibal Holocaust is a brilliant film. I don't quite share your enthusiasm for Ferox, however. Lots of fun to read, though.

Gave it a go, and found it quite enjoyable and entertaining. Anyone talking up such great films (even though you did slag off Cannibal God and Eaten Alive, both of which I found really enjoyable) is definitely a worthwhile piece. Kudos, a rousing thumbs up, or whatever system you use to say job well done.

No. YOU'RE TERRIFIC! As are you all for giving me such generous feedback and adding to my pages' traffic on The Quietus. Incidentally on the subject of cannibals, Cannibal Holocaust is not actually my favourite. That specific honour belongs to a film from about ten years ago called Ravenous. I highly recommend it.

Imust say that I also enjoyed Mountain of the Cannibal God and Eaten Alive but I put them down as guilty, cheesy pleasures.

Yeah, Ravenous was a pretty cool little film. I had a lot of fun with that one too. The historical period elements of it were pretty sweet, and it had a pretty kickin anto-war theme going on. Best thing about it, though, was that in the US none of us knew who Robert Carlyle was except from seeing The Full Monty, so seeing him like this was quite a shock to the system
