I felt the same way when he hung someone with christmas lights. I think that was Michael, right?

Yeah, all the kills in the series are done by Michael.

No harm done. I forgot those two, as well as much of what happened during that one. The new Divimax version I'm getting for Christmas should remedy that.

I wasn't sure if the "raining red" kill was Michael because I'd been watching loads of serial killer films and they began to merge into one. Just like a space man.

Yeah, but that's still a Michael kill.

Okay, just watched this last night, and realized, I had not seen it all the way through, just bits and pieces, and that is why it isn't clear in my memory. Now, I don't feel it is that great of a horror film. Like I said in the Last Horror Movie watched thread, I still believe it should have stopped with part one, despite the fact that I LOVE 4. Just because it would have been more effective in my opinion, since nothing can measure up to the original, and I would have liked to see what other stories they could have centered around Halloween rather than around Michael Myers. That being said; I really enjoyed this one. I don't necessarily like some of the ideas here, my opinion, Micheal is better left as a mystery so to speak. there is too much of an attempt to make an explanation, and it isn't one that makes a lot of sense. But the movie has good energy for a slasher flick; and the kills are some of the best in the series, there are some really good moments of suspense here. So while I don't love it like you do GL, I certainly didn't hate it. I actually liked it, which is surprising considering that I do find a lot of it ridiculous. I will give it a weak three.

That in itself managed to provide some great suspense/stalking scenes (the barn, the attack on the son, the race to get her out of her room before Michael gets there) with some great kills for Michael at sequel number six is the main reason why I so love this one. It kept the pace incredibly quick as well, moving along to keep my attention going throughtout, and you all know how much pride I place on a fast-moving film.
While it would've been nice to see what would've been had Carpenter made his series the way he wanted, I don't really feel the need to judge it just because it's not that way. Fun to wonder, but not sure if it should be critized for it.

Well, I think its fair to say that I don't feel any of the sequels measured up to the original; that's my point. I absolutely loved the ending to the first one, it was an almost perfect film to me and it was a chilling ending. None of the sequels measured up, the logic flaws and the continuity flaws became absurd after awhile. And like with Freddy, Micheal Myers just isn't scary anymore. That decline started at the end of part two, he became just another movie monster. I do believe that the other films take away from the punch of the original a bit. So I personally would have preferred to see something different rather than them beating a dead horse so to speak; yes, I enjoy a few of them, but they aren't as good as they could have been. If they had been genuinely GOOD films that measured up in my opinion, since this is all based on individual opinions, then there wouldn't be the criticism. So I can still wish that they had taken a different approach. And every time I watch one of the sequels, that's how I feel. I am not judging it based on the fact it was not done the way Carpenter at first intended, but judging it because it isn't that strong of a film, just like most of the sequels are just not very strong films. Fun, and has its moments (and better than H20 and Resurrection in my opinion) but didn't even come close to touching the greatness of the original. And because of that it makes me wonder what could have been.

when i first watched this back in '97 i didn't mind it at all, probably because all i'd heard(mainly from Fango) was that it was utter crap, but the more i watched it it slipped further and further. I felt the same way when he hung someone with christmas lights
You mean when he hung the radio guy from the tree? the radio guy had been killed by xmas lights once before-Silent Night Deadly night
