I saw it on HBO as a young kid the year it was released. I loved it. It broke the rules of the other films. It was shocking. Little kids my age weren't safe. They were the targets of the whole thing, and they were dying. That, in and of itself, made this movie scary as hell when I was a little kid in the early 80's.
Not to mention, I really can't deny that one of the reasons that this is a favorite of mine is because I saw it before I saw any of the other Halloween films. I was 6 and I had no idea who Michael Myers was.

Yea, I liked that about the movie too. You don't really see that to often. Trick 'r Treat sort of does it though.
Wow, first Halloween film huh.

You still weren't surprised the first time you saw it and there was no Michael Myers? I already knew the reputation because I had surfed around online and had come across what the others had said of the series when reviewing part 4, which I saw before 3, so there was no surprise at all. Plus, he wasn't even on the cover artwork for the VHS/DVD/whatever you want to call it, so it wasn't exactly hard to know it's big shocking secret before watching it.

4 is so great and 5 is so bad. I'm amazed Donald P. went along with it. Must have needed the paycheck.

Yep looking forward to that. Sure beats my shoddy Force R4 copy that is cut. Hopefully this will be the definitive release of my second favourite Halloween film.

Very cool, now maybe I will finally own a copy of it. I just have never felt the need to get one, but if this is a good edition I may just finally finish my Halloween DVD collection
