Recent story from Fango: In its coverage of the excellent box office posted by Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN this past weekend, The Hollywood Reporter queried Bob Weinstein, head of distributor Dimension, about whether its success would lead to the inevitable sequel. Surprisingly, Weinstein replied it was doubtful. “I never say never never…but it would have to be something very, very different,” he told the trade. Of course, it’s hard to imagine Dimension won’t want to follow up such a profitable picture (HALLOWEEN cost only $15 million to make)—and it’s also doubtful the company would take the next film in a Michael Myers-less direction, given the box-office indifference and fan brickbats that greeted HALLOWEEN III back in 1982. For his part, Zombie has said he won’t be back for another installment. We’ll keep you posted on any new developments.www.fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=4907So, do you think this is a good move or not?

i'll believe it when i see it (or don't see it ) if the remake is profitable -which i believe it already is there is no way they wont make another one- this is Dimension after all.

It is good on 2 levels. Fist, it is good that we won't necessaily be bombarded with endless sequels that serve only to cheapen the original. Second, it is good that Zombie won't be attached to it as I have now come to the conclusion that Devil's Rejects was a fluke and the man has absolutely no talent

It would seem that way, wouldn't it?
And like Mat said: I'll believe it when I see it.

Halloween is one of them movie to me that they can make 100 of, and I would watch them all.

Right, but is this a good thing? Is them not doing another Halloween film right now a good thing? That's what the poll's asking.

I kinda agree with the first reply to that story. Nothing confirmed, there's no cast, no director, not even a screenwriter commisioned to write a draft for a possible story? Seems a long, long, long ways off before there's anything of value to be reported.

I think it'll be good to have no more Halloween movies as tbh, i think the concept has been beaten to death. mind u, i've neva been a big fan of these movies so i would say that.

I disagree with hnts assessment of zombie. Also, I was happy to learn at the theater today that there is a sequel and zombie will be directing.

I definitely think the man has talent (I still love The Devil's Rejects and while I am not crazy about House of 1000 Corpses, I found it to be pretty disappointing and generic overall, I think it has its moments). I just wish he would move on from Halloween....though the trailer looks decent, I just refuse to be tricked again.... (you think if we keep posting Phantom will open this place up again?? ahaha)

Yeah I can't argue against your point that he'd be better served moving on to something original I guess I'm torn because I'm such a fan of the series and this is the one guy who has brought back the excitement and credibility to it.

If I liked the remake, then I would probably be excited about the sequel, but I didn't like it much at all. It just wasn't Michael Myers to me. The remake lacked a certain.....subtlety..... Since it was one of the very few remakes I was looking forward to....very disappointing. But I know I will see this. Just not going to pay to see it the theater like I did the remake. And I won't be paying to see any other remakes either.....except.... I am starting to get excited to see the NOES reboot. I can't seem to help myself...I saw the poster and went....well, that's freakin' AWESOME...

I hadn't heard about it, I'm not very up on movie news, one of the reasons I came back here!

Not to get off topic.... But here's the poster.... Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy. When more people are posting (if they start to that is), I will post this in the NOES section.
