What do you think about reports of apples new device?
I'm excited and will probably get one since I still don't have a pc or any computer other than my iPhone. And the iPad is basically a giant flat iPhone but with all the capabilities of a pc. And I love the interface and mechanics of the iPhone. And my phone is the first experience with a computer that doesn't crash or get slow or get viruses. Never knew that was possible as a long-time pc user. Thank you Apple.

It looks impressive and cool, but I would obviously have to hear some specs on it before I know if it is really going to be able to replace my PC. Also, I think it is worth remembering that Apple products are crazy expensive. My iPhone, while great and clearly the best phone on the market, is not competetively priced compared to other manufacturers (and this is even considering recent reductions in price). While some people may switch to the iPAd who already have PC's, I don't see it as a product likely to be cheap enough to make a hue splash in the market early.
I might check it out if it gets rave reviews, but I will not be paying whatever they are likely to charge for it initially

It's $500-$700 depending on model. That's reasonable IMO and cheaper than I expected. If I were to buy a laptop instead I think $500 would be the minimum I'd spend for a good quality. And I feel like my $300 3GS was worth every penny. Yes other smartphones are cheaper, but they're all inferior IMO. I've seen nothing to match it.

I still need a standard keyboard interface for my primary computer, though. I do far too much word processing not to have a QWERTY keyboard. I love my iPhone and the convenience of it compared to any other phone on the market. It cannot, however, legitimately replace my computer entirely. Until I get some hands on time with the iPad I can't be sure, but it seems more likely to be fancy high end media player (and Kindle killer) than a full fledged computer
