It is not exactly a part that commands serious acting prowess, but I guess I will say Nick Castle only becuase the original film was the only really good one

Sure it is, man. I am curious what others will say myself. Although, to be honest, I am not sure that I can point to anydistinguishing characteristic of any of these performances that sticks out in the mind as different from what the others were doing with the role.
What is the basis of your preferences? You say you like George Wilbur-what did he do differently from the other dudes

i liked him beucase he agve off a boogeyman vibe. For example In Halloween 4 when jamie had the nightmare he gave off this vibe as if he was going to get you. Also his walk wasn't slow or fast but normal. He seemed like a normal person at times wich I liked. It's hard to explain becuase I'm going off Halloween 4 and not hallwoeen 6 which I ahven't seen in a long time. Here are my prefences for Michael Myers.
Walks slowly but can still catch you. In other words just walking, not speed walking or walking like an old man. just a normal walk.
ALWAYS! Silent. Nick as great a she was gave off the heavy breathing and yler grunted everytime he stabbed someone.
When Michael stabs someone he can't just keep stabbing over and over and over. Once or tiwce is enough but sometimes that's the writers fault and not the actors fault.
When Michael gets injured or short has to make it look like he's atleast feeling the impact ( Example. The scene in halloween 4 where Michael is shot he is jerked by the bullets but it doens't look like he's dancing or somethin)
Michael kills silently. In other words remember the scene where Michael killed that mechanic in halloween 4? We had no idea he was there until he appeared.
Not always agressive. What i mean is He can't seem like he's some pissed off guyw hen he kills people. He has to seem like it's swfit and like he doesn't care. An example of agressive Michael is Tyler mane. This was my main issue with Tyler. He seemed like an angry Michael rather than aemotionless calculating killer.
I hope this offers insight into what makes a perfect Michael Myers to me.

Those two are definately the best, but I would say I like then equally. George for the reasons LF said, and Nick because of the head movemets and the way he stood. And also the suspense of the original was so great I give him at least some credit for that. (Timing or something? Hehe)

Nick was fantastic until the breathing. It amde him just kinda annoying to me lol but I give Nick the respect he deserves but George just rocked and he palyed Michael more than once before Tyler. Nick's body size was also a nice touch since he was the size of a normal guy. George was too but he seemed kinda muscley in 6

The breathing/grunting didn't bother me. I prefer Michael to be mostly silent but not necessarily completely.

I like him silent. Why? Becuase that's one of many things that distignuishes him from Jason Voorhees. Jason in parts 2-4 ( And JGTH technically) he grunted and made noise. Michael to me is scarier when he is silent. But then again this perception I have for Michael Myers is taken from Halloween 4 becuase taht was the fist one I ever saw.

Great idea for a thread LF, maybe you can expand it to the other major charcters as well?
Nick Castle for sure, he not only defined the character but he created an archtype. He has been imitated far beyond the Halloween saga, and as good as some of the other Myers' were, they were all just following in his footsteps.
I'm not quite sure what you mean about the breathing LF, as it was established in the first few minutes of the entire legacy,I always thought it was a result of the tight fitting mask, and wonder why none of the other actors used it
