Classic film!! This is just a must see for any horror fan. A true example of how to make a disturbing film without showing much blood.

And 5 from me. One of the most seminal horror films of our time - disturbing and terrifying... I'm only allowed to watch this at the House of Toad with the headphones on!

This is looking like a no-brainer... no need even for an exit poll. Anyone out there NOT love this film?

Like I said before, one of the most effective films ever made. I still get such a feeling of dread everytime I watch this movie. One of the best horror films ever made. 5/5 of course.

I know I probably shouldn't EVEN post this, but, much to my shame, I have NOT seen this film in its entirety! Just bits and pieces, like what is on Ole Leatherface's 'workbench'! I did see the remake in the theaters and promised to pick-up the original and watch it in one sitting, but, alas, I have not.

BD, that's so sad..... You have to see it! One of my fondest childhood memories.....well, okay, no, one of my terrifying childhood memories. It scarred me for life. But that gives it a very special place in my heart.

Check this one out, Boney James. It shouldn't be missed. I think you'll love it. Unfortunately, though, it may have lost some of it's impact just because at this point you will be a bit desensitized to it by having seen all of the films that blatantly ripped it iff before catching the originator. That said, I'm sure you will still find a lot of it to be really disturbing. And it is a hell of a great littel roller coaster ride to take

But that gives it a very special place in my heart. The original film is cult but also bound and linked to its own time ('70)...thats why allot of people find the original TCM weird and prefer the remake.

I don't know if it is so much bound to its own time, but rather, as HNT said, suffers from being ripped off countless times in the past three decades.
For mine it still stands alone like others from that era such as The Hills Have Eyes and Last House on the Left (which I only recently got to) and Dawn of the Dead as moies that will successfully bridge generations.
I watched the remake again the other night ad thought it far inferior.

It is only fair to look at those films as 'stand-alones', not linked to their sequels or remakes. After all, TCM was not just a film about ruthless killings...it had a very emotional and interesting background.
