I'm not one that's bothered by who's in the cast (oftentimes, I don't even know who's who in the film, all I really need to know is "Okay, so the blonde girl is Jennifer, her boyfriend, the guy with the brown hair, is Scott and his friend, the dude with the glasses, is Aaron" and I'm covered as far as getting to know the characters) so watching a lot of suspenseful stalking, a high body count and an imposing killer always works on me. Still say it's one of the better remakes out there, as long as the Asian ghost films aren't brought into the equation which then lowers it somewhat, but from the US ones, it's still one of the best.

Not a bad flick at all. I gave it a 4. Like most of you have said already, R. Lee Ermey is the best thing this movie has going for it. That's hilarious because you rated it a 1 originally under your old account. Just saw this for the first time and liked it much better than I expected. It's of course inferior to the original but it changed and added so much that it didn't really feel like a remake to me. It reminded me of the recent F13 film in that it was much more of a reboot than a remake. Ermey was great and I could watch Jessica Biel run around all day long. A negative would be the jason voorheesifying of Leatherface but what ya gonna do.. 3.5/5

I really need to give this one another try I suppose. I've gotten more forgiving toward remakes lately and maybe I can let go of the hate....

You should, Jen. If you are able to keep an open mind I think you will find it to be a perfectly adequate, if less than exceptional slasher. Not nearly as memorable or interesting as the original, but a decent way to pass 90 minutes.

No zero option? I liked the opening when the cops go into the house, but it went all downhill from there. It's too shiny and if you're gonna set a film in the 70's,can you at least make it feel like the 70's? I did try to give it a second chance about a year ago,.I think I made it just past the hitcher's suicide. I'm guessing Jim Seidow - Cook/Drayton in the first two films, hated it so much he died 3 weeks later.

I didn't care for Leatherface getting his arm cut off but I still liked it quite a bit. I give it a four.

Okay, so we watched it again. And I was instantly reminded of why I hated it so much. However, I will grudgingly admit that there is a lot to like (I still think Tucker and Ermey did a fantastic job, Tucker is as convincingly terrified in this film as just about any actor I have ever seen in a horror movie). I just personally can't warm to it. And for the same reasons. It's way too slick. And for some reason, I just don't like Jessica Biel (sorry CT). As of now, I would probably give it a 2. Hell, maybe I will watch it in another few years and it will work up to a 3.....

God fucking damn it I hate this piece of monkey sperm. Fuck this shit. Jessica Biel isn't enough, and neither is R. Lee Ermy to save this horsedick. Leatherface is Jason basically and the family was a bunch of Jerry Springer fucking rejects. God fucking damn it.
