So its back on again? I thought that the remake was halted? I read in an article a few months back that Campbell said it was going nowhere fast because of negative feedback. Oh well, not surprised but still of the opinion it shouldn't happen at all.

How did you feel about the Night of the Living Dead remake in 1990 HNT? Some are okay, remember they are like a cover song someare worse, some are betteeer, and some are the same.

Exactly right, CK. Take them in on their own accord and see how they fare with that in mind.

Well, the NOTLD remake was pretty solid because of Romero's diect involvement in writing the script. Although I thnk it was unecessary it was pretty enjoyable, and Romero really wanted to do it because he felt that he had made Barbara a weak character in the original and wanted to correct some of his earlier sexism (as he saw it) by making her capable of taking care of herself. In any event, I'd have been fine with it never being made, but I did enjoy it.
I am unaware of RAimi being deeply involved with this remake, nor have I ever heard him say that he was dissapointed with some of his choices in Evil Dead that he wanted to correct. Even more important, I am not aware of Evil Dead having fallen into the public domain the way that NOTLD has. Romero was justifiably pissed that there are dozens of bad rip off releases of his film, and wanted to do it again so that he could reap some of the profits. I think that is as good a reason to remake a film as I've ever heard, and I will grant it a rare pass in that regard that most remakes do not get

That's probably the only reason why that one can get a pass, which is fine by me.

Well I dont know how true this is I stumbled on it looking for info on the Evil Dead remake. But it seems the reason Raimi is looking for a director for the rmake is because he is busy getting ready for Evil Dead 4 starring Bruce Campbell as Ash!!! Now, that would be friggin sweet, but it appears to me that this is pretty old news. At the very least, it predates Spierman 3. I hope that its still true

I did enjoy those a lot, well, except for Halloween which I haven't seen yet but who knows, all the R-Rated remakes out there I've enjoyed.
Either way, it's firstly being viewed on cable or DVD anyway.

I will watch the remake, it's not gonna change my opinion on the first, I mean the original was great cause it seemed like devoted horror movie fans wanting to make a horror movie they would love and it worked it is a classic. If the remake goes Cabin Fever we may have a problem.

I'm all for this remake. I like the orginal Evil Dead and the second one so i think a modern remake would be excellent.
