This 1958 Hammer film stars Grand Moff Tarkin, or as his family calls him, Peter Cushing. ;D Just viewed this one and it didn't quite live up to the positive reviews I had read. No monster here, just the Dr. Doing other random experiment after fleeing and establishing a new identity and lab. Not horrible, but probably only for diehard fans of the Dr. Frankenstein character or Peter Cushing. 2.5/5

I like it better than the overrated original, to be honest, but it's still nowhere near as good as the last few entries Hammer made in the series. That's when they finally made these right, especially Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell.

If this one was better than Curse, I'll be skipping that one most likely.

Curse is just as dull and listless as Revenge (the monster gets only about twenty minutes of screen-time, if that, and it's all in the last section of the film) that is really only remembered because it was the first film to start Hammer's great run and because of the two stars in it. Believe me, the series was better as it went along, just like with Universal's series. The Frankenstein series was the only one that got better/stayed interesting all the way through for both studios. I like Revenge a little more, but you're better off going into their later entries for better films.

Ok, thanks GL, I'll look forward rather than backward in this series.

Who's Grand Moff Tarkin? Cushing is probably my second favourite actor besides Vincent Price, and he made the Van Helsing and especially the Baron roles his own,it's great to see him take center stage in the series and not have to play second fiddle to 'Sir Christopher'. Revenge is one of my favourite's in the cycle, along with Fankenstein Must Be Destroyed.

LOL I know Tarkin is his most irrelevant and unimportant role, thats just how I remember him. Doesn't do his acting chops justice, I know.

Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed is indeed a great one, Matt, though I've always thought they got in right with the last one, Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell. I've always thought that was the one to get everything right, and I do admit a little soft spot for The Horror of Frankenstein as well, even though it is essentially a remake of Curse only with more sleaze and blood.

You've got air-dates, channels and times for all these films. No excuses, except lack of having the channel.
