I'm going 4 here. Great Gothic atmosphere, some chilling moments and the mystery is quite gruesome, both in the storytelling sense and the action part when they showcase it, as well as the absolutely frightening sequence where he reveals his ailment, which is one of the most gruesome visuals of the time-period. It's just, when thinking about it afterward, you come to the realization nothing happened at all and there's really no action at all, but it still stays interesting throughout so it does overcome those flaws.
